ALB Posted November 6, 2005 Posted November 6, 2005 Just had a great weekend, where so many good things came together to make what seemed a quiet time at home awesome: 1) Finally got the new surround sound system working properly, after much swearing & threats to throw off the balcony; 2) Started Saturday night on the balcony with Le Hoyo des Diuex, what a shocker!!:-( Draw tighter than Rob/Kens' wallet & no discernable flavours; luckily a Siglo VI & a glass of El Dorado 15 year old rum tidied that up 3) The All blacks smashed Wales, & then found out the Wobblies had lost to the Frenchies:-D 4) And last but not least, after moving into a new apartment 6 weeks ago I finally got the time to purchase the most important piece of furniture for the terrace balcony :the BBQ:ok: Just finished of a jug of Pimms after assembling the beast, & hope to be cranking it up now that summer is here. Might have to host a Sydney FOH gathering at El Patio. Anyone else have a good weekend to share with us all?
habanablue Posted November 6, 2005 Posted November 6, 2005 mate patio is sounding inviting!! my weekend: up to wine country in Hunter Valley with friends, there two children and their old man for a weekend away. Friday night, drinks overlooking vineyards 20 metres away, father smoking a pipe, mate (a newbie to cigar) and I enjoying a RASS. Heaven! saturday morning: wine tasting: deBortoli...crap! (when they are selling cases for $40 you've got to wonder...yeah I know there's a glut but....) Lake's Folly, damn nice but not on my budget!, went to about 5 other wineries but what most stood out was a Hillside Shiraz from Audrey Wilkinson, deadset had a smoky texture with a bit of spice and pepper and thought I was lighting one up rather than sipping wine, half a case of that should see me through the next month! Sunday: tennis in the morning, big breakfast and quick drive back down to Sydney, afternoon spent on couch. very nice!! two weeks to go until Sydney FOH!!!
Bill Hayes Posted November 7, 2005 Posted November 7, 2005 Had a magnificent day at the races at Flemington for the last day of the spring racing carnival. In a marquee with 90 odd friends and work mates. A beautiful sunny 28 degrees and the fillies were out in force. Jagged four trifectas out of nine races on the card and took the winnings to the Longroom in Melbourne with a few fillies from work and blew most of it on dirty martinis, macallan scotch and was able to sneak in a siglo 1. :-D I've still got the smile on my face.
Phailure Posted November 7, 2005 Posted November 7, 2005 I'm glad atleast someone out there had a good weekend :-|

jay8354 Posted November 8, 2005 Posted November 8, 2005 Had a shocker of a week and weekend. The delivery and salvation of my Cuban Cigar Crisis reached a boiling point due to bonfoons at the courier company. Still not resolved as yet. Courier delivery my parcel to another person in the company, took the whole week to resolve... The guy who has my stogies is suppose to give it back today. I will check and make sure all is in order before accepting. Anyway, Wife's Cousin came down on Thursday. Show him around town on Friday. No Stogies, but in Darling Harbour. Went to Cohibar and had to wait 20 mins for them to tell me they had no Siglo VI. Seriously, why display something you don't have. Saturday, recovery from excessive alcohol, laughing at my series of unfortunate events. Sunday, Sister-in-law wedding, good all round but the late afternoon heat and the amount of flies was unbearable. Took Monday off, found out that the Partagas Roller could not get a flight into Sydney. Hoping my luck will change once I get my cigars....
