BigSlick Posted July 29, 2009 Posted July 29, 2009 Haven't had a lot of time lately to smoke many cigars. It's been 115 degrees anyways. Broke away last Sunday to go to a local cigar lounge. Smoked an 02 AF 858 sungrown and drank a Weihenstephaner Hefe. Whilst away in my thoughts a smoked cheeseburger worked it's way into my nugget so I decided to run by the store on the way home. Here's what I picked up: 1 pound ground sirloin(roll) 1 can Durkee fried onions 1 can diced tomato and green chile 1 block o' cheddar 1 package of sliced Provolone 1 package of fresh hamburger rolls 1 package of bacon Cut the roll of sirloin in half, smashed the 2 pieces into about 10 inch patties(Please don't beat your meat). Added the Durkees, tomato and chile mix and cheddar slices to the middle of the patties. Folded the outer edges of the sirloin over to make a burger patty, layed the patties over 2 criss crossed slices of bacon each and folded the bacon over and secured with a toothpick. Into the smoker with hickory for 1 hour at 300 degrees F. After removal of the burgers, the provolone got added. Here's the goods folks! Let me know what you think. TD
dochowl Posted July 29, 2009 Posted July 29, 2009 I gotta admit... that's a good looking burger. I think I could do without the Provolone and maybe add a bit of BBQ sauce instead. That said, I haven't cooked a burger in a smoker, but it appears to work out nicely. Thanks for sharing. Oh, and BTW, I was in Glendale a few weeks back visiting family. I thought I knew what hot was, at least until I stepped out of my nice air conditioned Tahoe and into the 117 degree outdoors. Damn that's hot.
