Great little bar and nice lounge areas to smoke. You can get a bite to eat as well. Just don't buy the "Cuban" cigars that they keep under the counter for special customers.
Rogers72 Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 I live just outside of Charleston and would definitely second Van's recommendation. The lounge above the Tinder Box is called Club Habana. You can puchase downstairs at the TinderBox and carry them upstairs to smoke or you can bring your own...no cutting fee. they have a well stocked bar upstairs. Another option is at the corner of King St. and Calhoun St. just next to the Francis Marion hotel. The name escapes but it is a B&M with a small balcony looking out over the park where you can smoke. www.clubhabana.com Let me know if you have any more Charleston questions. It's a great city.
Rogers72 Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 The place that has the terrace that overlooks the park is called The Smoking Lamp. www.smokinglamp.com I've never been but it looks nice. Three things are certain about Charleston this time of year though...heat, humidity, and bugs.
The Wise Old owl Posted June 13, 2009 Posted June 13, 2009 A friend of mine recently opened a little winery down on Market street, in the old section ( read tourist) called (who'd a thunk it) Market street winery. The proprietor there is a Major in the Army National Guard named McCleod. While in Iraq we would occasionally share a cigar. Given the chance, stop in and say hello, and tell him Sgt. Mabry sent you. Charleston is lovely, I'm sure you'll enjoy it. California dreaming is a nice restuarant to visit, on the water at the Charleston harbor. I think you may smoke at the bar there, maybe call ahead to be sure.
stargazer14 Posted June 15, 2009 Author Posted June 15, 2009 Wish I had looked at your post earlier, would have stopped by the winery, I did walk past! Had a great time, did hit the tinderbox by accident (family i was doing the shoot for were next door at the Meeting Street Inn) and at 1am the lounge upstairs was very nice, very comfortable and the people very nice. The shop is a good one also. Fun town, I dont think I have seen so many Sorositutes since college.
