bassman Posted July 30, 2009 Posted July 30, 2009 Rob, any chance down the road for a RA Lonsdale- to replace the much lamented 898?
El Presidente Posted July 31, 2009 Author Posted July 31, 2009 Rob, any chance down the road for a RA Lonsdale- to replace the much lamented 898? I think it would only come out of the Middle East, Swiss or H&F. Phoenecia have the $'s to do it and hold if nexessary, The Swiss and H&F an appreciation of history. They would still like to turn a buck however. Reality is that it woud likely be a minor release of 25,000 sticks (that is the minimum for a RR). You are tying up one of your RR on a Hail Mary play and in these economic times you need a sexy cigar to motivate buyers. Lets assume they could do a LFDC SHC or a Ramon Allones Lonsdale. They could sell 100,000 of the first and 25,000 of the second. They will choose the first. It will be done, just not sure when.
RR4362 Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 I have also picked the LFDC SC and the RA L's. I would love to try a full filler LFDC, I have heard that the old ones were very good. Hey Prez, have you ever tried any vintage LFDC's?
BobLobLaw Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 Maybe there should be a third poll with the RA Corona Gorda removed as this years Celestial Finos are pretty much that size right? Doubt they will do it twice in a row?
aavkk Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 NOT!!!!! Thats a profound and thoughtful argument for keeping the RACG on the list next year Jimmy However I have to agree with Ben here and in fact feel that the Celestiales Finos is the ideal unique release to a corona gorda. the purpose of the regionals is to both offer a unique product whether that be flavor, size and/or with a history to the vitola. Provided the blend is great (like all of the other RA Regionals) than I think we are looking at a dynamite smoke that is unique in size, flavor and history. All the while being virtually the same size as a CG with the much loved "109" head.
BobLobLaw Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 There's a Bolivar Lancero RR that was just released to Germany. True, but less boxes (2,400) if I recall and a different region. My point, which Alan enumerated perfectly is that I doubt PCC will want to do another RA corona gorda in consecutive years. So it would make sense to take those votes and allocate them elsewhere to try and get another unique regional in 2010 similar to the Especiales #2 or the Celestiales Finos.
Jimmy2 Posted August 21, 2009 Posted August 21, 2009 Same with the RACG very limited and most never smoke one at all this will be a instant hit when released. Also if the new RACF is great why would we not want another RA RR like a CG that will be even better.Cigars are ment for smoking not collecting !!! if its going to be a great blend and size i will go with that like a RACG . Collecting cigars are for nerds !! They are ment to be smoked !!
gw-smith Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 RA lanceros and see if you can convince Habanos to put them in cello
Tampa1257 Posted August 28, 2009 Posted August 28, 2009 RA lanceros and see if you can convince Habanos to put them in cello Geoff, If HSA listens I'll be forever grateful! I would LOVE a RA Lancero, and in cello.... Off the hook
BobLobLaw Posted August 28, 2009 Posted August 28, 2009 What is the effect of the cello? Better aging, protection against damage? How about a RA Lancero tubo? That would pretty much be a one of a kind no? Course then I bet you would be paying a very hefty premium for the fancy packaging.
Jimmy2 Posted August 28, 2009 Posted August 28, 2009 Cello breaths so it wont have nothing to do with aging more for protection i would think... One good thing is if you take one with you (Lets say going out for the night) it would stay good a little longer with the cello..
dcse Posted August 29, 2009 Posted August 29, 2009 RA lanceros would be my preferred choice. How would a Bolivar Celestial Finos play out? It would be interesting to compare the Bolivar blend with the RA blend using the same vitola.
