Colt45 Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 I revisited one of the few NCs I still enjoy smoking (I know, eyes rolling - just trying to be honest) - AVO Domaine No.30: Spicy brown mole, a hint of orange peel, hints of sweetness now and then, with a somewhat sharp herbal back bone. Smoked a couple and enjoyed them both. These have a unique flavor and might not appeal to everyone - I think this brand is fairly polarizing. Consistent in flavor and construction. In my opinion, construction surpassed by none. Partagas Serie Du Connaisseur No.3: Saddle leather and black pepper wrapped around a core of earth. Intense and concentrated - always a great cigar. For newer members who've not tried these or the others in the line, do not be put off by the size - you owe it to yourself to give these a try.
Habanos2000 Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 I've heard so many good things now on the SdC#3 that it'll be on the top of my shopping list. Being a devoted larger ring guage smoker, I am finally coming around to accepting the more petite sizes as being pretty impressive.
KB24 Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 Enjoy the AVO Domaine but prefer the AVO Classic and the LE's. The Classic #2 Maduro is probably my favorite AVO. And you're right with the construction. Never seen an AVO poorly put together. -Patrick
jquest63 Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 I also still enjoy several brands of NC's and am not ashamed of it! Agree with your assessment of the Avo Domaine, also find them a very satisfying change of pace smoke. My fave NC brands are as follows: Avo Domaine-all sizes Davidoff Grand Cru- No 1 Illusione - 68, f9, cg4 Tatuaje brown label - all sizes Cruzado - all sizes Don Pepin Blue label - robusto
Colt45 Posted May 21, 2009 Author Posted May 21, 2009 I've heard so many good things now on the SdC#3 that it'll be on the top of my shopping list. If you try a few of these, I'd also suggest trying a few of the No.2 & 1 as well. They all share a similar profile. Though it may seem to go against convention, the thinner ring gauges generally tend to concentrate the flavor delivery. KB, I used to enjoy the Classic Maduro as well - cream soda - but I lost my taste for them. JQ - nothing to be ashamed of! I just don't want to open the CC vs. NC debate
Evo03 Posted May 21, 2009 Posted May 21, 2009 I definitely agree with the statements about the Partagas Connoisseur #3. A concentrated and rich smoke. Even though they're small, it takes me more than an hour to smoke.
