qman22 Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 I smoked this cigar today to relax after a long morning of yard work. Prelight: This cigar had a nice pigtailed triple cap and a toothy colorado shade wrapper that was silky to the touch. It had a couple of big veins and green water spots, but was still attractive nonetheless. It had a faint tobacco prelight smell. 1st half: This cigar had a nice draw and produced lots of thick smoke, which was smooth and creamy with a dry hay taste. It was mild in flavor. This Reyes produced a rather pale ash and burnt evenly. 2nd half: A little more flavor entering into the equation now, with some espresso taste creeping in. No other changes in taste from the 1st half. Overall: This was the 2nd one I smoked from this box. The 1st was a flavor bomb with a sweet finish that this one lacked. This Reyes wasn't as flavorful or complex and just seemed to fall flat in comparison. Overall, it was still an enjoyable smoke though. I'd give it an 86/100.
ChicagoWhiteSox Posted May 16, 2009 Posted May 16, 2009 Thanks for the review. Maybe give another one a try in the next couple weeks and see if they improve.
SixburghDynasty Posted May 17, 2009 Posted May 17, 2009 Got a box of '05s on the way. Hope to try them soon.
whistlebritches Posted May 17, 2009 Posted May 17, 2009 This is absolutely one of my favorite Habanos. In the 3-4 cabs I've gone thru I've yet to find a bad one.To me this little cigar is the best of the Trinidad marque.I know some would argue this point but with little aging the Reyes is remarkable........................with 4+ years aging amazing is an understatement. Evo03 Posted May 19, 2009 Posted May 19, 2009 I've got a box from Feb 07 that are great at the moment. They always had coffee and earthy flavors, but now they are getting richer. For me, these are tough to beat in a short smoke.
