Ken Gargett Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 a few members have mentioned the 25 year old zacapa. spoken to some mates in the industry, checked websites etc and find no evidence of it. think very highly of the 23 year old and i know that there is an XO - is that the 25 year old under another name?
jquest63 Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 The zacapa centenario XO is 25 years old. I'm not aware of a marketed zacapa 25 year old per se, only a 23.
CigarmanTim Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 Have you noticed consistancy problems with Zacapa Centenario 23? The first bottle I enjoyed was wonderful. I bought 4 more the next year and I'm not as pleased. Too sweet.

Ken Gargett Posted April 26, 2009 Author Posted April 26, 2009 that's **** is sugar water don't sit on the fence jimmy. did you eman the zacapa or the bourbon?
Jakester Posted April 26, 2009 Posted April 26, 2009 Ken, I can't speak to the consistency of the 23 yr Zacapa, as I just purchased my second bottle and have yet to open it. However, I found the flavors of the 23 yr to be superb and among the very best rums I've sampled - great stuff! My only knock on it is that for my palate, it's just a tiny bit too smooth and rounded. Mount *** Extra Old and Gosling's Old Rum are two other current favorites - excellent flavors and enough alcohol punch to keep things lively. El Dorado 15 yr is great as well, and might have the most complex flavors. The 21 yr old is supposedly the bomb. On the bourbon front, I do enjoy Woodford Reserve, but have not noticed consistency issues. If you enjoy the Woodford, I highly recommend Blanton's, which is a bit "darker" in profile and top notch stuff. For a "cheapie," Jim Beam "Black" offers great value - lively, flavorful and a great price point. Cheers!
DocRKS Posted April 26, 2009 Posted April 26, 2009 There is only 1 World Class Bourbon that has a picture of a man smoking a cigar on it - so what does that tell you!!!! (LOL!) For my $$$ - Pappy Van Winkle 15 year old Bourbon is one of the finest accompaniments to a cigar anywhere and anytime.... If they smoke cigars in heaven - I bet they are enjoying a dram of PVW 15 yr with it (unless they got a good deal on Talisker 18 year or Bushmills 16 yr Single Malt)
