MIKA27 Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 Hi all. As the topic suggests, 'Is there a place or places where I will be able to purchase some CC's when I head off to Chile at the end of the year? I know it's some time away, but rather than taking my stock which I'm unsure I can even do that, I'd much rather buy over there. I will be heading over and arriving in Santiago so if any place have them, surely it will be there? Anyone......?
Tampa1257 Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 Skindiver is currently in Chile and should be able to answer your question. I know that he took ample supply for his 5 week trip with him, but knowing Stan, he will check out the local areas as well.

I'll wait until he returns and pick his brain.
bolivr Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 Mika, this article in Spanish seems to me (with my really crappy knowledge of Spanish) that fakes are a big problem. There is no LCDH in Chile and it seems people are not prepared to pay the cost of the real thing so fakes get an easy run over there. http://www.labuenavida.cl/content/view/141..._al_status.html Closest I got was a couple hours in Santiago airport last year and I did see some duty free. Since I joined FoH I have got wiser to what fakes look like and so I would hesitate to recommend what I saw there since I was a noob then. No bargains and very limited range too. If it was me I would take some from my own stash and just window shop. Mike
Taino Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 I'm currently in Santiago and I'll be here for a while, so if you come, drop me a line and we can share a smoke. There are only 3 places I would recomend if you want to buy the real thing: - Duty free at the airport on your way in and out (not the best selection but good quality) - The bar at the Ritz hotel (probably the best conserved) - El mundo del vino shops (one in Isidora goyenechea street and other at parque arauco mall) Everything else is sh++ There will be a casa del habano at the W hotel in a couple of months. Take care and drop me a line if you come here.
