R&J EL 2007 Escudo

Just picked up a single of these and smoked it over the weekend, and wanted to get the feedback from others in the forum and perhaps the Prez on their experience with it.

I was not expecting this to live up to the price point, and I only let it rest about 2 weeks after receiving before smoking.

However, this was a wow cigar for me and I was impressed. It reminded me of the NC Tatuaje Havana VI (verocu - east edition).

It started off on a bad note, the head started to unravel when I clipped the head, but it recovered from a flavor standpoint. The flavors hit the ground running, no waiting for a first impression.

A medium cigar with interesting flavors I really enjoyed. The last third had trouble staying lit, but until then I had a complex cigar with interesting profiles. A dried fruit (cherry flavor) in the beginning. Some light spice really complemented that fruit. Aromatic cedar/woodsy notes underneath the prominent flavors.

The beautiful red hue to the wrapper was unusual and made me forget about the bumpiness/roughness of the wrapper leaf.

Would love to hear about any other accounts/experience with this cigar. Prez, have you tried these recently?? What is the aging potential on these bad boys.

I've only had one before... but I didn't like it when I did (about July 08)

It was very bitter and the sickly ammonia tastes and smells were strong.

I've got more so I probably should give them another go soon.

Would love to hear your thoughts if you had another one, as I am contemplating a box, even though I only had the one.

I will hit one tomorrow and give you some feed back, they are a JUL07 so they have had time to settle and should be right in the zone
