jeromeroselli Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 Howdy, Has anyone been to Hudson Bar and books? (On hudson st. north of Jane st. in the west village) I recently discovered this place and have been drawn to their limited and overpriced cigar menu. But, It's a GREAT place to take clients. Just make sure that you are wearing clothes that you don't mind stuffing into a plastic bag when you get home, or leaving them outside. Imagine 20-30 people smoking cigars in a tiny little space all night long. It gets rough. Anyway, I highly recommend it. If anyone is ever interested in meeting up and chatting smokes and having some fine scotch, that could be fun. Cheers J
genevapics Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 I have never been, but would be interested in visiting. I will be in NYC in the near future and just might take you up on this. One thing I know I will be doing this spring is taking a walk across the Brooklyn Bridge. Afterwards, I plan on treating myself to a pastrami sandwich and an egg cream at Katz' Deli. Then lighting another cigar and walking uptown to access the new hemlines that the women of Manhattan will be sporting this season...
jeromeroselli Posted February 5, 2009 Author Posted February 5, 2009 That sounds like a nice time.. If there is one thing NY can do right it's sandwiches. There is also a really cool cigar spot on 6th ave I recommend checking out if you're going to do a walk uptown. La Rosa Cubana. They roll their own cigars right in front of you. http://www.larosacubanacigars.com/ Pretty cool. Walking up the steps and getting hit by the smell of fresh tobacco is fantastic. I know there is another shop very similar in the neighborhood but I can't think of it. If anyone else knows what I'm talking about please remind me!
patrick Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 I have been there a few times. I did find the drinks and snacks really pricey though, even for NY.
Tone_NY Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 There are quite a few place in NYC to enjoy cigars. We usually have a monthly meet up on the second Wednesday of the month. This is from another cigar forum, so if you are interested I can PM you the info. A few of the members here attend and in the warmer months we try to change things up to outdoor venues.
jeromeroselli Posted February 5, 2009 Author Posted February 5, 2009 Sounds great, thanks. Will PM you It is pricey... A Romeo Y Julieta Bully goes for around $17. It's about the experience though. One of the last smoking bars in NYC, and the only one I know of in the village.
Tone_NY Posted February 5, 2009 Posted February 5, 2009 The trick is not to purchase the cigars there. Buy the food and drink not the cigars as they tend to be over priced.
