I have some friends and family who will be traveling to Scotland, probably via Heathrow, and I would like to give them a shopping list of bottles to pick up for me and the wife. Since I've never travelled there, i do not know what they carry in their Duty Free Stores. I'm looking for Rum, Scotch, Whiskey or Port which i cannot get in the States, but would make it through Customs on the way into the States. Can any of you folks shed some light on what I should put on my list?

Heathrow has a big duty free store in each of its terminals. It has been a long while since I have been through there so no idea what they have and prices.

Found a link for you to try: Duty Free

Are there REALLY any bargains at a Duty Free Shop?

I've been led to believe by some folks that travel a lot that these places should be on the 'Places to Avoid" list.....

Anyone have any recent experiences?

It depends on the duty free. Some are more expensive than others. Also, depends on where you live. Canada has a very high tax on liquor and cigars so duty free lowers the cost considerably. For example a bottle of Cuban rum is about $10 there while in Canada it is $25-30.
