I guess someone who has suffered from Socialism does understand the reality of it.

To you Liberals it will sound like sour grapes....but just think about it.

I'm still rooting for Barack, Pelosi, Reid, etc.....maybe they will see the light! :hole:

But then again, as an American, I have no other choice for the next 4 years.

of course, time with tell. Mr Obama is in a tough position as the expectations of him are so high that he is bound to fail. I hope he doesn't. I wish him well.

That article is so true and so bloody sad.

Just what we don't want.....more government interference and control....happened recently in Australia....a move to socialism.

It's about time people took control of their own lifes. :whip:

I'm sorry but I think I just read an article written by a scared, closed minded little guy with his head so far up his own arse that he could never see the light of a new day.

i think he makes a couple of reasonable points - it realy was a triumph for sizzle over substance but that said, it is what you need to do to get elected. who knows, there might be endless substance to come.

and hardly obama's fault if the republicans ran a weak candidate against him.

look at qld politics. it kept joh in for years (with many other reasons) and has now kept the alp in for years. the opposition has been a joke in both eras.

but warren, yes, his head is so far up, it ain't ever coming out. yet one more unelected journo shoving his crap down throats and utterly convinced he knows better than anyone.

This is not the first nonsense that this piece of shite has published. Take a look at his Wikipedia page:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Coren

Among his previous choice words, referring to AIDS:

"While everything human must be done to find a cure for this plague, it is hard to deny that the majority of sufferers in North America contracted the disease through perverse sex. "

The American people have spoken and overwhelmingly endorsed Barack Obama. We don't need an English born Canadian columnist to knock him. Give the guy a chance to succeed and judge him on his actions.

I agree with ken, it was a victory for style over substance, but then again what politician isn't? That guy is trying to make the worst of the situation before obama has finished his first day in office, and frankly he comes across as a five year old yelling at everyone with his fingers stuck in his ears. America's problems are not going to be solved if everyone sits in the corner sulking convincing themselves that this is the end of the world.

it was written the day after obama was electd. one can assume that this was not his last word on the subject, though i suspect one can also assume that all subsequent words followed the same theme.

Even though I did not read the article that is the center of this thread, I'll say this ... I fought for America in Iraq in 2004-2005. And, although not choosing my fight, still a Volunteer. You see, soldiers take an oath, almost exactly like the presidential oath that Obama himself had memorized and had to "correct" during the inauguration. So, having said that, and even though I did not vote for him, he is my president. I hereby, declare that as a US citizen, Barack is in charge, and he is my president. It really is as simple as that. Democracy is a wonderful thing, and anything it produces is better than socialism. As a former soldier for democracy that is my personal experience, perhaps jaded by patriotism, but still, it is what it is. The nonsense we've endured as far as our diplmomacy towards Cuba is futile to continue, and time has come for another approach. So many people have said they never thought they'd see a black president, but many people also say they never imagined a free Cuba in thier lifetime, and I hope I see it in mine. A liberated Cuba could be a paradise, and all her citizens could know the meaning of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. (and capitalism). How can you argue with that?

PS

As I side note, I would like to add that when I arrived in Kuwait in 2004 one of the first things my unit did was sit through a course in improvised explosives hosted by non-other than the Australian Army! Quite the experts they were, and of course no-one sleeps through a course on explosives. So, hats off to the Aussies, they were in the fight before I was! Thanks as well, for thier service in Vietnam.

Rarely do I rant like this, and then only drunk. So please understand that I am a good-natured drunk, and mean no harm to any of Gods creatures, but still, I would kill anyone for my country, or my "new" president, should it be needed. There's no difference there, between socialism or capitalism, is there?

i note that you have as your sign-off, a quote by churchill.

here's another and i reckon with this one, he was spot on.

“Many forms of government have been tried and will be tried in this world of sin and woe. No one pretends that democracy is perfect or all wise. Indeed, it has been said that democracy is the worst form of government, except for all the others that have been tried from time to time. - Winston Churchill, 1947.

I think you're suggesting we invade and liberate cuba! If so, can I volunteer to lead a small team to take and hold El Laguito? I'll spend a few weeks fortifying my position and securing valuables.

Just nice to have a President who can speak English and is not a worldwide embarrassment.

I miss the ones that can speak english so damn well they can explain away BJ's as not being sexual relations....

To be followed shortly by ones that can explain away the idea that you should give them your money so they can give it back to you....

Let's see, where did I misplace my copy of Animal House....

C'mon, people around the world loved him and his oratory skills! After all, it's all about image and perception, right?

In fact, terrorists loved him so much they detonated bombs at the world trade center and U.S.S. Cole in his honor.

This mistakenly led them to believe that his successor would do nothing after such an honor as well.

Don't worry, I'm sure the new guy will be tougher, right after he closes gitmo.......
