yossie Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 Taboada Rodolfo It was the last one a shop held. It's quite expensive for me but Since I was impressed with prior reviews about his cigar, I decided to purchase it. As you see, It has uncut foot and I'm not good at lighting this kind of cigars.. You know It was the second time to try lighting uncut foot cigar for me... The first one was Rainer. Anyway, I lit it up and begin to smoke. Its flavor from the first puff was quite mellow espresso and very sophisticated as I had felt in Padron 80th. Maybe more complex but I beleive I can't identify the 2 cigars due to unsophisticated my palate. After that, I also felt nutty character in it. By the way, This cigar was quite strong from the first puff. Basically Large cigars are weak bodies in the first and get stronger graduatelly. but This was already full body! After an inch passed, The espresso might be stronger little bit but not big difference. I finish to smoke it right now. It's a great and very enjoyable cigar but too big for me... I wish Habanos sold cigar like this in the regular line...
Ken Gargett Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 I wish Habanos sold cigar like this in the regular line... couldn't agree more!
Jimmy2 Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 Never smoke his cigars but it sounds like he makes some tasty sticks.
Don Candido Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 I absolutely love Taboada cigars as they are made today. They are expensive, not easy to find and the tobacco differs depending on where the cigars are sourced. Still he (and perhaps his disciples) are excellent blenders and rollers. I wish there were more involved in making decisions at HSA like him.
yossie Posted January 18, 2009 Author Posted January 18, 2009 I think It maybe for the great cigar , I can't feel tasty in Monte #1 and Bolivar PC I smoked today.. WTH..
Don Candido Posted January 19, 2009 Posted January 19, 2009 Are you saying you smoked a Monte #1 and/or a Bolivar RC after a Taboada? You simply went in the wrong direction. Most Taboada's would be the cigar you would smoke last in that combination....
HawaiiBill Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Sweet!!!!............damm nice cigars aren't they?! I had the pleasure of smoking a Toboada DC when I was in southern Cal last Sept for a surf industry trade show. Before heading to San Diego for work I was spent some time a good friend, Raymond (Badhangover), who completely spoiled me with some amazing cigars. As Don Candido mentioned this was the kind of cigar to END the night with. In fact by the time we lit our cigars it was pretty late at night and I was concerned I had the energy to smoke it? But holy crap, the MOMENT I started smoking I knew that finishing it would NOT be an issue!....LOL......... It was EASILY one of the finest cigars I have EVER smoked. Top five for sure. Of course the environment of spending time with a great friend and 60 year old scotch certainly helped, but the cigar itself was stunning!! It started off with that deep rich tobacco richness that only comes from quality Cuban tobacco. Every puff had huge volumes of smoke and offered a myriad of amazing flavors. It was one of those amazing cigars I will never forget! Cigars like that dont come along everyday and I am stoked you got a chance to smoke something special yossie!!
seadub Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 excellent review Yossie! I had the pleasure of meeting Senor Taboada in TJ a few years ago. He handed me a freshly rolled Sublime, which to this day has been the strongest (and tastiest) cigar I've ever had. I made the mistake of walking into the shop with an empty stomach. Boy... did I learn a lesson that day. Thanks for allowing me the pleasure of reliving that memorable experience.
Mr. Japan Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 Great review Yossie, Taboada makes some excellent smokes, I have few left overs and tonight I will light one up.Thanks for sharing your feelings.
DocRKS Posted January 28, 2009 Posted January 28, 2009 I've enjoyed every Toboada I've lit up - however - be on the lookout - it appears as The Master is getting on in years - several instances have been reported that cigars attributed to him were really not rolled by him at all but by folks 'approved' by him. That doesn't make them bad cigars - but the shop I have in mind is charging you BFB (Big Bucks) for Toboada made cigars. BTW - NOTHING I've written in any way suggests that the cigar described in Yossie's review here or pictured here is not the real thing and hand rolled by Toboada - quite the contrary. My post is just a caveat for those who are looking to get into experiencing more of the custom rolled cigars - as with most things of value in life - just be careful!!!
