kjellfrick Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 Now I declare food every time I come back into the US and get similar “express” service. That's brilliant! I've go to remember that trick!
Ken Gargett Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 On entering customs in Brisbane the boys and I debated as to whether or not we should declare some seashells. I opted not to do so in as much as we didn’t need the hassle. We were in a horrendously long line and as we inched forward observed that custom agents were X-raying EVERY bag. At that point we decided it best to amend our form to declare the shells. Of course when the first agent saw our form he militantly marched us off into another lane, of four people. The very courteous female agent took one look at the shells in a zip lock and said “That’s it?” and cleared us without so much as checking any other bag. We circumvented a corral of at least 150 people. Now I declare food every time I come back into the US and get similar “express” service. bag of coffee. works every time. sir, not sure if i should declare this but thought i better to be thorough. that all? go home. touch wood.
Don Candido Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 Hi Peter. The Australian customs may understand It contains illegal products like cat and then send back to Japan. I am not trying to pick on you Yos. I love you man. It is just something sounds wrong here. First of all, are there products made in Japan with cat in them? Secondly, wouldn't the Japanese post office understand Ausi customs would likely open something they suspected had contraban of some sort in it before sending it back to the sender? I am guessing that if there are not common cat containing products in Japan, you got bad advice at the Post Office. Even if there are cats in stuff from Japan (a very icky thought) I still doubt Ausi customs would have sent back a package before inspecting it. My understanding is, when sending cigars of any origin to Australia, it is fine, but there may be customs and/or taxes involved for the receiver. (I am sure many or most people on this board know those rules better than I.) Anyways, I am just blabbing. It is just sort of amazing to me.
yossie Posted January 17, 2009 Author Posted January 17, 2009 I have no idea but undoubtly that's a cigar and made with tobacco :- Of course, It's not a prohibtied item in Australia. So, I don't care in the point. What I am afraid of is simply they don't inspect. It's not only Aussie customs but also the others sometime don't work enough. For example, If they find tobacco product, they must know the price and weight to tax but sometime just sends to me only with the tobacco tax. Like it, I'm afraid of what Australian Customs won't inspect the inside.
Don Candido Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 Except, you never answered if there are products made in Japan with cat in them? You people do not eat cat, do you?
yossie Posted January 17, 2009 Author Posted January 17, 2009 Do you really wanna be answered? lol Well, We don't have the custom to eat cats but have a custom which uses cat's skin for a kind of music instlement. I don't know It's old fassion or not though. Westerners may think it's cruel....
yossie Posted January 17, 2009 Author Posted January 17, 2009 Can you get me one of those instruments? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shamisen Since It's expensive, I can't send it to your home.. sorry
Don Candido Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 I was joking. I like to have musical instruments around the house, but nothing I have to be worried about getting ruined by a young aspiring rock star. Nor anything wrapped in our house pet's skin. I did go to the Wikipedia page. Thanks for the info. Shamisen bodies can be wrapped in Dog or Cat skin? Damn! That is cold! So was it the Japanese or Chinese who ate (or eat) live monkey brains? I thought it was Chinese, or even some other Asian country, but it never occurred to me it could be Japan until tonight...
yossie Posted January 17, 2009 Author Posted January 17, 2009 Japanese don't eat monkey's brain... as far as I know. I have heard British or the other white eat it too.. It's natural you can't understand such Asian meal custom.. I also can't understand the mainland's custom...
Don Candido Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 You are fun to mess around with Yossie. I have to get to sleep. Have a nice night or day or whatever it is there now. I think maybe 11am. It is 2am here. Goodnight!
Ken Gargett Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 Good night Don. It's still 7 PM. perhaps you two should get a room.
Don Candido Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 perhaps you two should get a room. Ken, I would bunk with Yossie anywhere. I think most who know us on FOH would understand that would require two beds. The thing I wonder is if either of us were to be bunking with you, if it would be so obvious we were taking seperate beds. Or would we? I guess I wonder too... Yikes.

Ken Gargett Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 I still love you either way Ken, just from separate beds.... :-) separate rooms, separate hotels, separate countries...
Don Candido Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 separate rooms, separate hotels, separate countries... You see? It is that kind of overstatement about the situation which causes everyone to question you in the first place. Listen Ken, I am not a *** basher. I have lots of *** friends. One is about 10 feet from me right now. The thing is, I have little patience for those who are in the closet and can't admit it to themselves, or their friends (who already know). Do you know anyone like that, who might be in your general vicinity right now?
