Ken Gargett Posted January 1, 2009 Posted January 1, 2009 given that there have been various mutterings about the possibility of the embargo being lifted under obama, or at least better relations between the two countries, what impact will the fact that raul chooses venezuela and chavez, hardly the usa's closest ally, as the first state visit? as an outsider, it struck me as cuba continung to give the proverbial political finger to the states. i'd be interested in the views of others, particularly those in the states who might have a better idea of what is going on.

I certainly don't have a better idea of what's going on - let them keep giving us the finger, what Cuba does is their own business. If Castro wants to closely associate with Chavez and Medvedev, I hope he's wearing a flea collar.....
