bobarian81 Posted December 26, 2008 Posted December 26, 2008 Like many others I recently purchased several boxes of these smokes on the recommendation of others. The Corona Extra is fast becoming my favorite Cuban vitola. The slightly larger RG than a typical corona seems to sit well in the hand. Great looking nut brown wrapper with no imperfections and a solid feel. I have heard others have had draw problems with this cigar, but the six or so I have smoked have all had perfect draws. Nice nutty tobacco flavor from the prelight draw. First third the burn was perfect, no wavyness and some great nutty and toasted bread flavors. Halfway the toasted flavors maintained. I really like these smokes. So smooth on the nose exhale, they have aged nicely. Continued with a good burn even though a little vein showed itself. The first two thirds were great but I think the final third is where this smoke shines. No bite or bitterness, just toasty goodness. This one had to be nubbed. Removed the band and purged with a minor correction. What a fantastic smoke! I am glad I stocked up on these, I can only imagine what they will smoke like at 10-15yrs. More experienced smokers have said that as good as these are now, they still are not at their prime. Highly recommended, get these while they are still around.
El Presidente Posted December 28, 2008 Posted December 28, 2008 Excellent Review I have largely let down by RGCE from 05 onwards. Once one of my favourite cigars but have struggled to find exceptional traditional flavours from recent offerings.
