Under the "Moja" category, image 71. What in the hell is going on there? I like to think of cigar manufacturing as a natural process, this looks like alien fauna cultivation.

I'm not sure I'm looking at the picture you mean, but if I am this is the station where leaf are humidified before further processing in the factory. The stench of ammonia there is staggering, btw!

For what I understand, those machines were invented in cuba, never patented and now they are very popular in the cigar industry.

When they spray water in tobacco there, that action detonates a type of fermentation and boy you can feel ammonia in the air!! I've never understand how those guys can work in those rooms.

Before those machines, that process was done by hand spraying the bundles of leaves while separating them. A ton of labor.
