kilroy Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 I haven't really been too much of an RyJ smoker. I prefer stronger smokes but I couldn't pass up this box when the deal was right. Prelight: Beautiful cigar. A little spongy and nice and even feeling all the way down. No outer blemishes. The foot has a couple of tiny pits. She smells of grass pre light draw has tea in it. Light up: Draw is maybe +1 tight (out of 20... 20 being trying to draw through a wooden dowel). Immediate chocolate/coffee tastes that run the entire length of the cigar. First third finishes smooth with no real flavor transitions. Half way: The coffee/chocolate side mellows a little bit (remember it never leaves completely) and I'm left with a taste my young palette can't really identify. I probably would be able to but all of a sudden I was transported back to my parent's back patio! When I was 8 and my dad handed me his cigar to try. Not knowing what I was doing I just put it in my mouth and inhaled causing a coughing fit. The only things I remember about that are my mom scolding my dad and the flavor/smell of that cigar. That's what I'm tasting right here! Prologue: After my time warp back to the early 80's I completely forgot why I was smoking and just sat with a smile on my face and kept puffing away at that beauty. Tampa tells me I should let these age a little more but every time I have one it reminds me of that spring day. How they'll make it to the spring I'll never know. Score: N/A <- If I was being fair I'd 87/88 but that would be a guess.
Fatshotbud Posted December 20, 2008 Posted December 20, 2008 Thanks for your review - some of the best smoking experiences are like that (Just Kickin') - not over thinking anything......... They will never make it to spring is my bet
MaltPointer Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 Every time I smoke one of these, I taste dried cherries and raisin bran. I love 'em.
