I've tried a number of Vietti Barberas, and have always found them to be very well made and enjoyable. I don't often see their

offerings at the local merchants, so when I do, I buy. I was happy to try this Nebbiolo.

Fairly deep violet on color with a fragrant, fairly jammy nose. Taste of purple fruits, smooth with integrated tannins which

showed just a bit of grit on the finish. Medium plus in body with a fairly dense mouth feel.

Relatively easy to drink without being sloppy or flabby. I truly enjoyed it.

Having never seen this wine before, I did a little research and found that this wine is made from the second selection of grapes

from Barolo classified vineyards. Unless I misread, I believe it could technically be labelled Barolo. Regardless, at U.S. $17,

I think it's a great value as well as simply a very good wine.

Sounds like a bargain bottle.

It reminded me that many of my very favorite Burgundies are Premier Cru, declassified from Gran Cru. Unfortunately, they are very sought after, and don't ever sell anywhere near $17./btl
