2005 Vietti Nebbiolo Perbacco

I've tried a number of Vietti Barberas, and have always found them to be very well made and enjoyable. I don't often see their

offerings at the local merchants, so when I do, I buy. I was happy to try this Nebbiolo.

Fairly deep violet on color with a fragrant, fairly jammy nose. Taste of purple fruits, smooth with integrated tannins which

showed just a bit of grit on the finish. Medium plus in body with a fairly dense mouth feel.

Relatively easy to drink without being sloppy or flabby. I truly enjoyed it.

Having never seen this wine before, I did a little research and found that this wine is made from the second selection of grapes

from Barolo classified vineyards. Unless I misread, I believe it could technically be labelled Barolo. Regardless, at U.S. $17,

I think it's a great value as well as simply a very good wine.
