winelover Posted November 23, 2008 Posted November 23, 2008 I am becoming a real cognac enthusiast ever since I got a bottle of Hine Rare VSOP last year. I really think good cognac and brandy in general is not often talked about. I also like Armagnac a lot too. I wonder whether anyone is buying a bottle for Christmas or has one tucked away to enjoy during the colder weather? Yesterday I went to the BBR store in St James St London and got to try a few different cognacs before settling on a bottle of Berry's own FLB which is made by the House of Frapin. It is entirely a Grande Champagne cognac made from eau de vie of not less than 25 years. It really was something special, it had really enticing floral notes and complexity I can perhaps only comment further once I've opened the bottle. To me, cognac is my favourite spirit and I don't tend to drink it in heavy quantities, just small measures to sip slowly and to take delight in the aromas .

The Hine Antique and Triomphe are highly rated and also pricey. I bought a bottle of Remy 1738 recently as I think it is a good ROI. It might be time for a bottle of Delamain. The Hardy I tried I thought was just ok. I definitely will be looking to buy a quality bottle.

JMH Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 I really like a cognac after a big dinner, a great way to finish a great meal. I don't really go for the expensive stuff though, currently working through a bottle of courvoisier vsop.
paesano Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 The only thing I thank my first wife for was showing me the path to Armagnac. What a great treat. Killer search engine. When I found it I spent days in awe. I hope you enjoy http://www.wine-searcher.com/ http://www.shoppersvineyard.com/search.asp...x=16&GO.y=5
Don Candido Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 Winesearcher is very helpful at times. They are tied into many retailer's databases. Most wines I have looked up could be found there, usually at multiple retailers.
