rjfunk Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 I just got a box of Monte 2s from Jan. '08 production that seem to be giving off a strong ammonia smell. If I put them in my desktop humidor with my other cigars, will the ammonia smell leach into the other cigars and taint the flavor?

It sounds like they are still "off gassing" - which I do find a bit curious, given aged tobaccos and hopefully proper fermentation. If possible, I would keep them in their box, and let them do their thing. Others may be able to give you more concrete advice.
cigarros Posted October 31, 2008 Posted October 31, 2008 I had same cigars. I have placed them in the humidor and a month later they became normal. It has not affected on other cigars in anyway. Don't worry, all will be OK!
