» Nothing like fresh mahi (or dorado in your neck of the woods)!

» Do you get into the yellowfin and albacore as well?

Yes, we do (more albies than YFT). Last year was great for albacore, not so great for yellowfin. This year, the fish stayed about 80 mi. south, to far for me at todays ga$ prices, and a hell of a long ride if the seas pick up.

My name is Rob Freefallguy and it's been 12 days since my last fishing trip… to the Outer Banks of North Carolina… paid more for bait than what the fish would have been worth!

Surf casting the OBX, deep sea for tuna off Mid Atlantic shore, spin casting the kelp off the coast of San Diego, poppin’ for bass in the Potomac or fly fishing for rainbow trout on Hunting Creek(same one Pres. Carter fished while at Camp David)… I’ve been there and it’s all good!

I forgot to mention salmon fishing at the mouth of the Columbia River out of Ilwaco or Westport. Last time out we limited the boat in 45 minutes. The run was great caught 1 King and about 5 Silver. You have to release the wild salmon and keep 2 of the hatchery bred.

Was just wondering... were you considering putting a trailer hitch on the Montesa to haul you canoe around town?

» I love to fish, the whitw bass are running now and crappie are biting. I

I hate fishing. It's occupies too much of my waking time, and half my sleeping time. Been fishing since I was three, no ****. My father fished, his parents fished, their parents fished and at least 2 generations before them. It's a family sickness.

When I was really young I used to go upstate NY and fish rivers for carp and bass with my father and grandparents. They would come and pick me up on the weekends and take me snapper fishing or porgy fishing, depending on the run.

Then when I was around 10, my father came in to say goodnite, and he had his jacket on. I asked where he was going, and he said, (pay attention now) Striper fishing. STRIPER FISHING! Music to my ears boys! Hypnotic words. Those words mean so many important things to me that I couldn;t explain it. You;d have to have that illness in order to understand. But when he came home a few hours later with 3 Striped Bass, I was blown away.

A week later we were on a jetty throwing clams and bunker chunks and caught nothing, but it made no difference. It was some cool ****. I started riding a bicycle to fish, then my first car went into some heavy fishing duty. I was a fishing freak. And that takes us up till I was 18.

Since then I've caught Bluefish and Weakfish while chasing Stripers, every year, in all kinds of weather, including snow and subzero temps, all in the surf. Rock hopping included.

I've had my best day ever last December 15th, with way over 40 stripers from 8lbs to 25lbs. There were so many my wrists hurt from jaw locking them to unhook them.

This past February I bought an Ocean Kayak Prowler, Angler Edition and although I only had it out twice, I caught 4 blues and it's a trip!! The fish turned the boat and I was taking waves over the side. Very stable though and it;s rigged with a rudder, which makes things easier.

The best part is that my three kids come with me alot and have been in both bluefish and striper blitzes. Hopefully they'll follow the tradition.

Thanks for listening
