When will the new ERDMundo factory open?

They told us they promised to have it ready for February 2009, for the Festival. As of today, all I can say is that they are behind schedule. It would be a good surprise f they can make it. If not, wait another 6 months or so. The reason behind this fact is that there is not enough material for doing final repairs to the façade and something. Could be a real or prefabricated excuse, they are always excusing themselves. They means Grupo Empresarial Tabacuba. They rule the factories and the projects behind the factory, like reapirings, logistics (molds, press, tools, table boards, chairs, aprons, …Tabacuba belongs 100% to the Government, is a state ruled company which means they are subsidized and everything they produce (finished cigars) are sold to Habanos s.a. The latter can reject any production that doesn’t meet the standards, then it’s returned to the factory producing that smokes and so on. Every profit goes to the State. All the revenues to the State.

Who is likely to run it?

Likely to be run by Armandito, former manager of the old LA Corona, adn the other guy behind the production should be Alejandro Carvajal.

Nothing has been finalised as names are still being considered.
