La Habana.- El huracán Gustav, que el sábado atravesó Cuba sobre la provincia tabaquera de Pinar del Río, destruyó unas 3.400 casas -donde se seca la hoja- y humedeció 906 toneladas de tabaco, aunque estas pueden salvarse.

'Se afectó más de 3.414 casas de tabaco' pero las hojas pueden recuperarse, precisó Olga Tapia, primera secretaria del Partido Comunista de la provincia de Pinar del Río, que no ofreció calculo alguno acerca del valor de los daños ni los efectos sobre la cosecha.

Gustav atravesó la principal zona tabaquera de la isla con vientos de más de 200 km/h y rachas ocasionales de más de 300 km/h.

Miami:

It did not hit Miami, but I did feel the winds, rain was out of control here...much less we could not go to the beach......Oh yea the beach was good for surfers....wind surf sports....

One guy was wind surfing, and got pick up 20 foot, and carried into a building....
