Lanthor Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 Didn't take any pictures, sorry camera is broke Fairly dark wrapper (I asked Lisa for a darker shade), flawless and smooth. Clipped at an angle, perfect draw with a little sweetness on the tongue. First inch was butter smooth with just a hint of 'strength' through the nose. Taste is nutty tabacco, not overly complex so far. On the nicotine/stength scale I would put this section at 6/10. Second inch the flavor picked up more leather, but still nutty and buttered toast type profile. I find these to be like drinking a good cup of coffee with sugar and cream, just smooth satisfaction. Strength still faily consistent. Into the middle the profile was still consistent and maybe getting a little stronger as the tar builds up. Burn is perfect, really diggin this cigar. Tons of smoke. Last third the leather and nut profile started to dominate, strength is picking up, but not at the level of a Boli CE, etc. Burn and draw are still good, smoke is plentiful and aromatic. Buttery sweatness is almost gone. Strength to me would now be at 8/10. Overall: This cigar as earned its reputation as one of the Habanos flagship offerings, IMO. For me, perfect size, shape, profile and strength, an all time favorite. Very smooth and rich, with no real hints of earth or vegitable. Still a noob so I am sure many flavors and nuances missed. Smoking time was 1 1/2 hours. This is out of 10: Draw: 8 Construction: 9 Burn: 9 Body: 10 Flavor: 10 Value: 9 Total: 9.16 Cheers!
KWG116 Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 Hey Lanthor, Great review. I only have a few in the humidor, but after reading your review I may need to order a box with darker wrappers from Lisa. I have a box of Mag 50's on the way, but after I recover from that, I may order some Monte 2's. Thank you
El Presidente Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 Great review mate An important point for members to take not of is that there is a marked increase in the average quality in boxes of 10 than 25. Ofhten it is better to buck up 3 x 10's than 1x 25. Ask Lise or myself to inspect and advise.
