Rob calls me up and say Smithy lets review the Punch Super Robusto now that it has had a bit of time to settle down, for scientific purposes. We have been working well while Lisa is away and we have made a commitment that we will not open a bottle of wine until after 1pm each day, (So far so good although the number of bottles consumed is still up for debate). This was an excellent suggestion one of the few that Rob has now that Lisa is away.

I thought the best way to start the proceedings was to go back through the old reviews and see how we described the cigar back then and how it has developed. Rob protested and said that we cannot corrupt our minds with old reviews; we need to start with a blank canvas. Talking about canvases....

This cigar is looking superb, beautiful soft coffee brown with a hint of oil on the wrapper. Construction is outstanding with an excellent draw. The cold flavour was of a sweet toast very interesting. I also commented to Rob that there were hints of marmalade. He almost died with laughter and then said Smithy its not marmalade its called 'sweet citrus'. What ever you call it this cigar was looking great.

First third was a *****! Bitter acid, like a father being woken from an afternoon kip. This cigar became angry and very concerning about where this was heading. A very tight burn and balanced ash but still angry, however behind the acid there is potential this cigar as years left in it.

Second third and the cigar comes alive it changes from the bitter acid to sweet flora, perfume and almost a sherbet flavour. But not a sickly sweet flavour just the right balance between tobacco and sweetness. The middle third was great but this is where the story differs between Rob and myself. His cigar continues down that path of sweeter flavour. Mine however decided to take me back to the dark side of the force, the acid returned.

Final third started like the first third angry my friends! This was not looking good for the end of this scientific research. This punch then decided to change its mind again and turn to the sweet side of things. Finishing with some bread like flavours to the point that I was disappointed to put the cigar down.

All in all still great potential with this cigar. I'm a hard marker and will give it an 89.

I'm sure Rob will now add his comments.

This is the link to the original review that Rob wouldn't allow me to read. Please note the Mo has been removed.

Thanks for the review, Smithy. I've a box in deep storage that I intend on leaving alone

for some time.

As for the mo, you may not be wearing one on the outside, but we all know you're still

wearing one on the inside.......
