Sir Diggamus Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 La Gloria Cubana Tainos OSU MAY01 This cigar is a beautiful light Colorado color and has is slightly oily in appearance. The pre-light smell is a sweet barnyard aroma. I grabbed a hot cup of Indonesian Java to accompany this smoke I initially cut the cap with my knife but looking at the bunching underneath I went and got the cutter and clipped it. I got a creamy sweetness and very slight hint of herbs in the first couple if puffs. During the first few inches of this smoke the herb flavors became more prevalent. The smoke is light and velvety on the tongue. The draw is quite firm but I am not turning blue trying to get smoke from it. The creaminess of this cigar is what I am enjoying most right now. At the beginning of the second third comes a spice I just cant put my finger on and splashes of orange/citrus flavor. The citrus fades into a sweet graham cracker flavor that with the creaminess reminds me of bowls of graham crackers and milk I used to eat when I was young. The creaminess and citrus carries into the last third accompanied by a dusty tobacco flavor I associate with aged habanos I have smoked in the past. The body picks up just a little before I nub it to close to a medium but still mild overall. Overall this was an excellent mild bodied cigar. I loved the creaminess that was there throughout the entire cigar. Too bad it was the last one in the box I would rate this cigar five out of six smoke rings
solid Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 Nice review and pics! I'm now considering ordering a box of 10 Tainos! Sounds like a nice medium bodied smoke.
El Presidente Posted August 17, 2008 Posted August 17, 2008 Great review mate I think I have used the term "breast milk" when describing this cigar before. Very unique profile. The final third has always been a little ragged on these 01's but nice to see that feature appears to have disappeared. Fantastic cigar.
