Assuming they are as you say they are (not questioning you, just speaking regarding the rarity of the cigars), they may well be from the best regular production marca Havana ever produced.

Some of my top 5 Habanos experiences include Don Candidos

In my opinion, you may well want to keep the sticks until you have developed more of a palate for cigars. No offense is intended but I'd hate for you to smoke them, only to realize in a year or two that you weren't capable of detecting much of what the experience was there to give you. I've been smoking seriously for around a decade (just under) and still feel overmatched every once in a while by an epic cigar.

Do you know the DC's age? Examples from the 70's reportedly are not even close to being as flavorful as they will be in the future. This is also something to consider.

FYI, these were produced from around the 1930's until the early 80's.

Ummm... Yes!

The DC Selección No. 501 - 6 1/2" x 42 (165 x 16.67 mm) Cervantes, a lonsdale (stolen from Wikipedia - a great source from time to time.)

I hope they are excellent examples. When you try them, consider posting a review on FOH.

The Don Candido range from Dunhill is one of the best ever in my opinion, and of course, Don Candido is my handle on the board. Notice I did not call myself Guantanamera...

Enjoy!

Hi all, and thanks for your replies. They were given to a friend as part of a collection from a lady who's husband passed away.

They were (and still are) kept in a humidor at the right temps etc. He believes that they were 45yrs old although he's not entirely sure. They are prestine and in their original boxes too. They smell amazing, I think I might just keep them for smelling!

I implore you. If you're new to cigars or you aren't really into the whole cigar thing, don't smoke any of them. If you really don't get it, lighting one up will just be "another cigar".

I for one would be happy to pay you current market rates for these rarities (which is a lot) and ther'd be a lot of the guys here who would be in the queue right behind me.

Either way, you've got some of the greatest cigars ever made!

Take no offense mate but if you are new to cigars and you have these things you are like a 1yo with a Rolex.:-D These are rare and expensive cigars and they are yours, smoke them anytime you want but you may never see such cigars again.

» got any pic's of these cigars? ;-)

I'll try and post a photo for you all..

Does anyone know what they are worth roughly?

I'm not really willing to sell or smoke them (the smell is worth keeping them for alone!) but it would be nice to know what they are worth all the same.

I can see me getting into smoking cigars big time, even though I stopped smoking cigarette's a couple of years ago.

Thanks, Carl.

501s? Could be anywhere from 150 to 200 per stick.

Agreed. And I am prepared to pay the high end of that estimate personally, if you decide to unload some.

The real thing I would take from the replies thus far, is you are sitting on some incredible cigars. Period.

Cheers,

DC

Now you might see why I mentioned the Rolex thing. These are very expensive cigars above and beyond what most cigars are worth. If they were mine I'd smoke one and meter the rest out ove a period of time. That is assuming you have several.

Well guys if you do buy these cigars (if he does sell them) from dentonparrots just to make note he is a new member since the 21 of July.

I am sure dentonparrots in good faith would send his end first as some of you can verify the legitimacy of these rare cigars.

Ring Gauge on this cigars is 42 and 6 1/2 inch long.

Packing came in 2 rows SBN-b 25's as stated only so this Pic dentonparrots showing 2 cigars in coffin is quite unusual (Very rare) or questionable ?

Hi again all. Don't worry about questioning the authenticy of them, to be honest I know nothing at all about cigars other than the "Hamlet, the mild cigar" advert shown on UK TV....if they really are this rare I'm going to kick myself at giving my father 2 for part of his birthday pressie!

I might ask my friend if he can get a photo of the larger outer box that these came in for you all to see, basically it's something like other big boxes I've seen on here with a stamp/ certificate on it.

I thought that they were just being posh putting them in individual wooden boxes instead of cardboard like Hamlets etc.

I'm getting quite intrigued now, there's not many entries on google etc when you type it in, in fact the thread on here comes up, there's so few of them.

Thanks very much for all your opinions and if you need different angled photos taken etc for better identification let me know. All other thoughts are welcome.

Carl.

If those are real - which I have no reason to doubt that they are (then again, I know VERY little about those cigars) . . . that is one hell of a find. This is especially true if the coffin presentation is as rare as it would seem.

Did you say that you'd contacted Gotham Cigar Museum? If you haven't, you certainly should. Perhaps they could shed some light on the history/presentation. When DC (or someone else more knowledgeable than me) chimes back in, he may also know a bit more about the coffins.

I do not know about 2 cigar coffins. I was wondering about it the first time I saw the photo.

Other than that, they look pretty authentic to me.

» to me to let him know they are rare, I assume he has been smoking his!

» I'm glad I came on here to enquire about them as I was mighty tempted just

Curious if you found any more info on these.

And did your friend smoke any of his?! If so, what did he say about them? lol

I have a friend in England who has a very interesting cigar collection, like myself he inherit a bunch of cigars from his father.

He has a larger box with some of this littler dunhill boxes as pictured in parrot's post (or very similar to those)

He is very old school, but I will ask him details about his and if he can send me a pic.

Anyhow those are some very nice looking cigars parrot, congrats!
