dysfunctional Posted October 14, 2005 Posted October 14, 2005 Seen familar names onthe forum....and except that you smoke cigars and are funny as hell...dont really know you that well. Thought its time to introduce ourselves again.... when we started, first smoke...favoutite smoke....etc let me start I live in Sunny Singapore and have been smoking for about 9 months...prior to that maybe one smoke every 6 months Wife got me started by buying me my first humidor for a christmas present (At that time I said a 50 count was too big...duhh) First smoke a CoRo..... Almost died cause "friends" told me to inhale deeply to enjoy the taste...... Favourite smoke is the Partagas Solomones Smoke many different types depending on time and mood. Starting to like the smaller ring guage like the Trinidad Fundores and Monty Especiales no. 1 Smoking venue is usually the local La Casa de Habanos..... or cigar friendly bars / hotel lounges. Now doing on average 3 sticks a day..... Dont smoke at home (Cigars anyway) Still a cigarette smoker... That's about it I guess. Hope to get to know members here better in this thread.
strayvector Posted October 14, 2005 Posted October 14, 2005 Good to meet you Dys. As for me, a little background as to how I started smoking cigars is in this thread: http://friendsofhabanos.com/board_entry.ph...er&descasc=DESC To fill in the blanks - I'm an Indonesian-born Chinese-American married to a beautiful and displaced English girl. My home is in Tucson, AZ, but currently residing in Stockholm, Sweden while on a work assignment for 18 months. Since Sweden is Cuban friendly, I've been fortunate enough to have been able to try most of the regular production Cuban cigars courtesy of a local shop. Swedish prices are outrageous, but for the convenience and top notch quality, I guess its worth it. Being able to try all the singles have allowed me to narrow what I like and really like. Current favorite is the PSP2, VRU, and Trinidad RE. Looking forward to going home in December.
gehrig24 Posted October 14, 2005 Posted October 14, 2005 Hi, My name is Matt and I have a Habanos Problem. I have been smoking about five years but just started getting serious about Habanos about a year ago. My first was a RyJ Churchill and is still one of my favorites today (with some age of course). I too sample and try all different types and sizes, but have really enjoyed the classics such as Monte #2, Upmann #2, but some of the others I have fallen in love with are the CoRo and Dipo #2 (I am a fan of the belicoso/torpedo size i guess). I do not have a preference on Mild, Medium, Strong...just depends on time of day and mood. I am a member on a few other boards and recognize a lot of names but this is the only one I participate in. Good place and hope to one day visit the motherland and see the operation up close and personal.

Hi, My name is Jason and I have a monetary problem supporting my Habanos habit. I think that is a problem that all of us are having (except for El Prez and Ken from the looks of things). I first started when my best friend got talking about cigars. So on my 24th birthday, I went and bought 2 Cohiba DCs and a box of Cohiba robustos. Those went a bottle of Single Barrel Wild Turkey I bought on a trip to Malaysia. The Cohiba DC got me hooked. The robustos were nice but i liked the experience of a longer smoke. The rest of them i shared and got most of the non cigar smoking ppl going green. :-D Since then I have been smoking singles though I still consider myself as a bit of a newbie to the Cigar world. Still trying to find my favorite smokes.
habanohal Posted October 16, 2005 Posted October 16, 2005 My real name is Craig. HabanoHal is just a nickname given to me. I have only been smopkeing cigars for maybe 5 years or so. My brother for longer, and he is the 1 who intrduced me too them. 1st time I saw him smokeing, I asked " how can you sk=moke that crap, just put some oak leaves in a pipe". Then I tried a few NCs' and was hooked. About 2 years ago or more I found that I can get the beat cigars in the world( Cuban). Yes it took some orders of fakes, reading up on everything about Cuba, and learning all about them to know the differance. Since I started smokeing Cuban cigars, it has been %100 habanos on about a 4 a day habbit. But then I am told that I am an addictive compulsive person, and I take everything I do to extremes. I mean ,what can I do with 75 boxes of Cuban cigars................smokem and drool over them. I live in the states about 25 miles south of Chicago, the land where you can smoke anywhere.....but not for long since the smoke nazis are at it again.

Mel Posted October 18, 2005 Posted October 18, 2005 Yeh my name is Mel. I am 46(yesterday) and live in the hills of East TN. I have been at the cigar thing for three years now and found the Cubans two years ago. I saw my first "Cuban" esplendido in the Bahamas and thought it was not a big deal. Probably was a fake. A friend turned me on to the Czar site and I ordered thirty or so sticks in an assortment. Off to the races and spending money from then on. Like some of the other obsesive compulsives I bellieve that if it's worth doing it's worth overdoing. Big boxes stuffed to the hilt. Had to use every last working brain cell last night to get the four new boxes in the humi. When not in the office doing dentistry I like to hunt and fish and work with wood, love to build my own boxes. Cohiba and Bolivar really turn my crank. I prefer the medium to large gauges as I smoke to fast and put a lot of pressure on the little sticks. Good to know ya'll better, Greetings from Hillbilly Land.

harwellplant Posted October 18, 2005 Posted October 18, 2005 welcome to foh. quickly becoming one of the best bb on the net.
Van55 Posted October 18, 2005 Posted October 18, 2005 Well, I am Van. Duh! I am in the United States, so I don't smoke Cuban cigars. That would be illegal here, don't you know. If I did smoke Cuban cigars, I imagine that my favorite would probably be Bolivar Corona Gigante. But of course that's only from reading reviews by guys who can smoke them legally. I've been a cigar smoker for about 10 years.

argon345 Posted October 19, 2005 Posted October 19, 2005 Hello everyone..the names Jim and i too enjoy a good cigar now and again (with a nice glass of port or scotch). I live on Long Island, and as such I never touch the cubans but if i could i think i would give some RyJ and HdM a try right away!! I got started smoking after purchaing (from a garage sale i might add) a rare presentation humidor given to General Chiang Kai-shek (China) by president Batista (Cuba). There were a few cigars left in it, thus sparking my addiction...i mean hobby:-D Of course not knowing what i had sold it on Ebay Not one of my smartest moves..Ok well that about sums it up. Cheers!!!
