Boxboy
Beautiful boat...ugly bloody fish! Sounds like a wonderful time. I grew up in New Zealand and call the States home now but I have fond memories of fishing with my dad outside of the Manakau harbor. Although when I was a kid, the only Don Alejandro I knew was the one and only Mexican in New Zealand (as per his claim) although my dad swore he was a Samoan with a funny accent and a penchant for beans and rice. Wish I was there... /Chris
El Presidente
After coaching my son's mighty under 11 Harlequin rugby team on Saturday to another glorious defeat (running out of glorious defeat speeches...please forward any you may have), I headed down to FOH member and good mate Matt Byrne's boat for a weekend of fishing and relaxing. Matt's evil brother Peter joined us with his Bay Runner which we would use as a tender to Matt's gorgeous 46ft Canaipa. I brought my son Ben and we would later catch up with another board member "Shagga" Bowden and his son Dirty Harry. Well once we anchored the Canaipa just off Sea World on the Gold Coast, Matt prepared a lunch of perfect fried calamari, King Prawns and fresh buttered bread all washed down with some excellent Sauvignon Blanc. We retired to the back deck with wine glasses in hand, lit some cigars (Vegas Robaina Don Alejandro for me) and baited up to battle with Ben (the worlds most competitive fisherman just after PJ). Perfect blue skies, a lot of laughs, some great fish (including the huge Hairtail caught by Ben below). A weekend of great food, great wine, great cigars and great friends. I know my son will never forget it. Thanks Matt and PJ...life does not get any better. :-) The Canaipa The Hairtail Captain Ben PJ and Sunset
