no3putts Posted May 29, 2008 Posted May 29, 2008 What's a reasonable asking price for these? It's 3 Reserva d' chateaus in a metal tin (kinda looks like a carrying case. Thoughts?

no3putts Posted May 29, 2008 Author Posted May 29, 2008 I haven't purchased them yet. They are being offered to me for 65 + 5 for shipping. Just wanted to feel out if that was in the ballpark.

BigSlick Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 Holt's in Philly had em Xmas 06. I ended up buying a Robo tin it was around $38+tax. Can't remember how much the other size(s) was/were but they weren't much more.
SmokinAl Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 I've never tried and Opus X. Do you guys think they're worth the rep?
Colt45 Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 » I've never tried and Opus X. Do you guys think they're worth the rep? Just my opinion bloody fingers, but see my previous post.

That's fair enough and not the first time I've heard it. I just wonder if it's just you and me that don't get it?...
dmuchow Posted May 30, 2008 Posted May 30, 2008 Of the two sizes i've tried, both about a year aged, i thought they were such a waste of money.
kmax Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 » Of the two sizes i've tried, both about a year aged, i thought they were » such a waste of money. Aged Opus are something Fantastic! I have had original release that were among the best cigars I have ever had. The fresh ones are VERY strong but given some time they are very good!

The only good thing I can say about them is that they've been consistent - consistently bland. They've had depth, but little flavor. Just not my cup of tea, and I feel they are perhaps the most over hyped cigar there is.

To each his own however I must say that while I can understand that Opus might not be someones cup of tea...I have never heard that they lack flavor.
smokum Posted June 1, 2008 Posted June 1, 2008 What year was Opus X first released ? I recall after a long hype I picked some up at Faders in Baltimore. Cool old shop. Cigars were pretty good.Smoke strictly Partagas NC's up til then. A year or so after that I went to Windsor Canada and picked up some CC's at either LCDH or House of habana..can't remember the name. It was the day after a strip joint down town !!! After that I never went back to NC's.

I have had a few disappointing sticks, and many fantastic sticks. If you love Havanas its a different taste entirely, and one that not everyone appreciates. You gotta try some, a good one is almost worth the cost :-D
