Colt45 Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 Nice review, especially seeing as your blurb in the store is less than flattering ;-) This and anacostiakat's recent Siglo V review make this one sound like a must try. Has anyone sampled a more recent vintage?
Leftridge Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 Eggnog.. That sounds really tasty.. Thanks for the continued great reviews Rob. It really is the meat of this forum imo.
greenpimp Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 Nice review. My 2001 Lanceros have some of those flavors, and eggnogg is a god call on the description. I have some recent ones I'm looking forward to trying. Will post some notes.
El Presidente Posted May 15, 2008 Author Posted May 15, 2008 » Nice review. My 2001 Lanceros have some of those flavors, and eggnogg is a » god call on the description. I thought I was mad but Eggnogg is what I kept going back to as a descriptor.
Bill Hayes Posted May 16, 2008 Posted May 16, 2008 Detected some of that eggnogginess in a Cohiba DC towards the end of the first third. Have been craving it ever since and never experienced it again. Thanks for bringing back those memories Rob. I'll just cry over lost loves into my beer now.

El Presidente Posted November 15, 2008 Author Posted November 15, 2008 Cohiba Siglo V AGED OSU JUN 2001 Clipped the cap and found a dream draw and sweet hay on the lips. Gently warmed the foot before bringing it to life with a series of deep draws. I spent a minute trying to determine the initial flavour…..there was vanilla but it was much more than that. Finally it hit me……eggnog. Not as sweet as the rich eggnog I have tried but imaging 1/4 strength eggnog….vanilla, cream, sugar, egg yolk, cinamon stick. I am probably mad …..but has anyone ever experienced this flavour profile with aged Cohiba’s? I am in love. Just under medium in body, plenty of thick smoke to delicately coat the tongue, soft but rich flavours which tantalize you. This is such a sophisticated cigar. Its delivery and performance is one which it sits calmly in the background while making a statement of class. If this were a car then it is no flashy Lambo/Ferrari/Maserrrati. This is a Benlty. Toasted Vuelta Abajo tobacco come to the fore in the second third and push the sweeter elements to the side. The cigar is now true medium in body and there is some woody cedar, tobacco and rich milk coffee in the mid palate. There is also some lovely honey sweetness on the edges. The change in the cigar from first to second third is quite remarkable. The opening so stunning in its array of flavours before the slow morphing of the V into a beautiful classic aged Cohiba The final third is simply class. I anticipated a building of strength in the final third but it never materialized. Medium, smooth, sensual, mature. Loved it. 94/100
