Leftridge Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 I have debated even posting this review as it is not representative of the Siglo VI that I have had historically. But, it is what it is. _______________________________________________ With only an hour to spare I grabbed the Siglo VI that has been sitting around for about 3 months. As I have seen others reference it with intimidation, it is a big smoke. But I don't find it cumbersome by any means and rarely do they take me much over an hour fifteen to finish. This one is has a nice velvet feel and is a perfect light colorado shade of wrapper. It does not look dry but is not oily either. Smell at cold is cuban tobacco with a hint of spice. Clip the cap - give a pull and experience perfection with the slight resistance I love. I've never had draw issues this these smokes. Toast the foot and give it a tug to get it going. The smooth creamyness of cubans and in particular the Cohiba is unmistakable. First 1/3 standard Siglo VI. Earthy tobacco, smooth on the palate like cream. What I'm noticing off the bat is that although the draw is perfect, the smoke is lacking. Burn is close to spot on but I'm not getting the frothy billowing mouth fulls. Giving it time.. Second 1/3 hints of spice, maybe some cedar but the damn smoke (or lack of) is robbing me of pleasure. I pull twice each time just to get what I crave. The smoke I am getting continues to be smooth with rich coffee on the tounge. Last 1/3.. Frustation... Like the girl in high school that you know is easy with everyone else but when it come your turn, no cigar. The smoke I am getting has sooo much poteintial if it would just give in. Catching flovors as I can of vanilla, cream, spice and a woody aftertaste. Not what I had envisioned on a peaceful evening. Although not the norm this Siglo was a flop. Take what I wrote, remove reference to lack of smoke, addin voluptuous smoke and increase the noted flavors and you have a classic review of most Siglo VI's. 88/100
aavkk Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 I think Id rather have the great flavors and lack of smoke volume than the other way around... kinda like I had the other night with a box from Jul 07. It was just lacking in flavor.
