BobLobLaw Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 I was perusing some old reviews and in one of them (HDMDC) El Pres states that he "cuban cut" the cigar. What does this mean? Also while on the topic how do you prefer to cut your cigars? And does the type of cigar itself affect which type of cut you use? I love all the reviews and pics, but there is not usually a picture of the head after being clipped which is something I would like to see. Thanks for the help.

To "Cuban Cut" the cigar is to serrate the cap with you fingernail and pop the top! I use a sharp edge of my Palio and run it around the cap similar to the cuban cut, but w/ a sharp object. Basically cutting through the cap like a can opener.
puros71 Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 I do that sometimes when all else fails and I dont have a cutter handy. Better than the bite off.

Great link, thanks. I like the idea of the knife/razor/"faux" Cuban cut. I recently gave something similar a try but I went at it from the side. Not like a sausage, where you saw through, but with a razor and just going deep enough to get the cap off. It worked ok. I have some cheap sticks that were given to me awhile back, time to give this a whirl!
