Colt45 Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 I tried this on a whim a couple of months ago and have been on a steady diet of it since. I had never heard of the mencia grape, and was equally unfamiliar with the Bierzo area. Deep garnet in color, it is fairly dense and juicy - round but not over extracted or flabby in any way. Cherry vanilla and spicy currant. Just enough oak to provide the vanilla flavor. Nicely integrated. Structured without being very tannic. Very nice dried cherry finish. I consider this a steal at U.S. $13, and don't expect that to last very long.

I'll be getting me some this weekend;-)
