Justinwzp Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 Headed to a good friends bachelor party in Vegas on the 22nd. I'm bringing my cigar caddy packed with good stuff for the groom and me. I'd like to bring a box of something decent for all of the non-smokers to try out. Was considering Padron 3000 Robustos but I've never had anything from that line. What do you recommend? It's 16 guys so a box purchase is required. Any suggestions? "Cheap" is the key word. I'm not even sure if these guys will be interested. Just wanted to bring something so everyone can join in if they'd like to try. I'd prefer to bring a decent box of Cuban Robustos but I don't want to waste them it on a bunch of non-smoking alcoholics ;-)

Professor Twain Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 Sorry, I couldn't resist. I suggest Hoyo Epi #2s. Great cigar without age, come in a slide box, full flavored but not too strong of a nicotine kick. Robusto size is hefty enough to be impressive to a newbie and avoids problems of thin ring gauges for beginners. The flavor on these will be enjoyed by people new to cigars and to experienced smokers. Good luck with this.

They're are already bought and paid for buddy ;-) This is the first friend in a tight circle that's getting hitched so far so it's going to get a little crazier than it usually would. I'm already regretting the trip and I haven't een left yet
Rogers72 Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 If i were in your shoes (and i seem to be pretty regularly) i would go for something like the Padron 3000 or Chateau Fuente Sungrown. I think that size matters here and your handout sticks need to at least be robustos and I wouldn't hand out anything more than 4-5 USD. I don't think you can find better cigars of that size for any cheaper anywhere. Now, if you want to splurge a little more, you can't beat the value of a RASS.
KB24 Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 Don't go expensive. Great chance they will be smoked after everyone is completely drunk and they wouldn't know the difference between a CoRo or a Swisher. I like the Padron 3000 suggestion. I went with the Padron Natural Churchill for my wedding with the same idea in mind: that people would be drunk enough that they wouldn't know any difference but that I still knew in my mind that I offered a nice cigar to my guests. Another suggestion would be some AVO Robustos. Nice and smooth and not to powerful for the non-smokers. Have a good time and don't take pictures;-)

Hello, I just returned from Vegas where I smoked a Hoyo Epi #2s, whilst playing Black Jack. Was a purely enjoyable smoke. It was the envy of a table packed with cigar smokers (even a cigar store owner from San Diego). Was getting compliments from another table for the second hand aroma. I thought a medium strength full flavored cigar. Enjoy Vegas, bring plenty of money. DSS
El Presidente Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 Rule of thimb is to upgrade he women and downgrade the cigars for a Bachelor party ;-) Most would be happy with Monte 4's. Have a few Cohiba Robusto for those that know.
tigger Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 Go for something you won't mind seeing get stubbed out after a couple of puffs. Monte 4, AF 858 or something from the Padron X000 series all could work.
ucla695 Posted February 4, 2008 Posted February 4, 2008 I would definitely go with something on the cheaper side for the non-smokers in the group and have some good sticks for those who smoke. Chances are, the non-smokers will only smoke part of the cigar and then toss it. That's what seems to happen at all of the bachelor parties I've been to.
Justinwzp Posted February 4, 2008 Author Posted February 4, 2008 Thanks for the advice guys. I went ahead and picked up a box of those Padron 3000's (it's hard to beat $90 for a box of decent robustos) One more question..... Do you think they will stay in good shape for a few days if I just throw a Boveda pack into the cigar box and close it? My otter box is going to be stuffed with all my good stuff so I don't have more room. I love this forum

ucla695 Posted February 5, 2008 Posted February 5, 2008 I've used empty wooden cigar boxes and ziplocs for weekend trips and they have worked well. In your case, just double bag them and your set.
winelover Posted February 5, 2008 Posted February 5, 2008 Does anyone else call Bachelor Party's 'Stag do's'? Must be a British expression. For a wedding a box of monte 4's to offer guests goes down a treat as recalled from a recent wedding of my cousin. Great when someone actually brings the box out and offers them round.
