I am a die-hard BBF fan. Would love to read some notes about this cigar from others. EVERY time I have one I am amazed by the rich flavors. Darn-HATE to admit this-Rob told how great they were-and he was right. [Did I just give Rob credit for something???-damn I am losing my head]

Also-for those of you who have aged this cigar over three years-how did it turn out?????????

On a recent trip to Phuket, I stumbled across a box of these in the island's only cigar bar. Tucked away at the bottom of their large humidor, mislabled as the "Royal Coronas" and largely forgotten, I flipped over the SLB and was pleasantly surprised to find that it was a 1997. Nice. :-P

The 8-year old BBF really delivered. Deep tobacco flavors coated with layers and layers of rich leather and cedar wood. Aftertaste was earth, rich toasted tobacco, and hints of sea salt. Mmmmmm, good

Having recently tried a 04 production, I must say the big difference for me was the complete absence of any pepper or spice tastes. Instead, the cedar wood and tobacco flavors, along with the classic leathery and earthy Bolivar signature flavors, become much more pronounced. No question about it, grab 'em if you can find 'em. :-D

Dave.

I will have Ken do a review on the BBF during the week. I am off with PJ and my son Ben fishing this weekend so Iwill take a few BBF's (for Me an PJ....not Ben) and we can both post a review next Monday.

I loved reading your response. The beginning started to sound like an old Bogart movie. :-)

Your tasting notes are exceptional. I fully agree with the rich earth present.

I am most appreciative of the fact you tasted ones eight years old and loved 'em. Your post will help guide me on aging these guys. I love them now-but I bet three more years will make them even better.

Thanks for replying to my post.

Stick with Lisa man she is always at the shop. Rob never gives her any time off.

I scored half a box of the BBF 01yr along with several other items from a friend that was in need of money. You would not believe the great stuff that he was selling. I think his wife needed a root canal. I'd have had the beast pulled.

Anyway I was at the BBF before I got to the intersection. It lit up and came to life full throttle. Rich and spicy with a nicew twang. These older BBF do burn a little irregular but the taste is worth the hassle.

I almost hate to smoke these cause when their gone its over.

Mel.

PS Whats with us liking the same stuff? Are you a long lost brother or what?

Hey-I think we are lost brothers-at least in the cigar world.

dave

After reading all the notes on the VI will have to buy some newbies to smoke now as my box ages. Did order more BBF's so as not to kill that box I am aging. The weather is starting to get decent here-so the urge to sit outside and have a cigar is overpowering-and I give in.

Thanks for the kudos, dave. :-D

Actually, i've found that the BBFs have lacked the consistency of, say, the Bolivar Corona Extras. If you're looking for the classic Bolivar flavors, the CEs will hit the spot...everytime. What are your other favourites from this marque?

Dave...Mel....Bugger off :lol2:

Father and Son time this weekend. PJ is taking us out deep sea fishing so it should be a hoot.

Anyway....Lisa prefers it when I am not around ;-)

Ouch, I thought that one might leave a mark. LOL!

I have some BBF's from '01 also that are really Spot On, but I think the best Boli I ever had was the Tubos #2 from '97. Damn those were some great sticks.

I simply love the Cohiba Robustos, Bolivar Royal Coronas, and of course the

Cohiba Siglo VI's. I really thought that the Cohiba Siglo VI's might have been all hype. For me-it is simply a wonderful cigar swirling with complex flavors of rich earth, touch of vanilla, and the right interplay of spice.

I love an aged BBF after a steak dinner with a good Port an almost magical combo. To me they are what Cuban Cigars are all about.

You speak my language-...with a good Port an almost magical combo.

I have a near full box from 6/99. At this stage of the game, these cigars are sublime. They have a "meaty" flavor to them, and they are medium bodied with earthy tones.
