dizedean Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 Good Morning all, I am hoping someone can explain to me what "regional release" means. I am only assuming that these are productions sent to a specific part of the world and not distributed internationaly? Are they special vitola that are not normal productions? Are they new productions soon to be a running style? Are they made with anything more notable than any other quality product from Cuba? Or is it strickly marketing ploy to increase interest in a particular brand. Why "regional" are different areas of the world smoking different styles? I am curious. I would appreciate any info as to the nature and reason for "reional release" cigars. Thanks.
tigger Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 Trevor has a nice writeup about ERs on his site: [link=http://www.cubancigarwebsite.com/2-releases.htm#Edici%F3n_Regi%F3nal_Series]Link[/link] It won't answer all of your questions, but it's a good start. :-)

When I first started I thought there were maximum 3 or 4 brands and that there wasn't that much of a variety. Thanks for the link!

Correct (except for "internationally" which should have 2 Ls). » Are they special vitola that are not normal productions? They often are, but not necessarily. » Are they new productions soon to be a running style? I dont understand this question. » Are they made with anything more notable than any other quality product from Cuba? Theoretically, they're not. In practice, they seem to be higher quality than average, though. » Why "regional" are different areas of the world smoking different styles? Yes.
Trevor2118 Posted January 30, 2008 Posted January 30, 2008 » » Are they new productions soon to be a running style? » » I dont understand this question. I believer the question is "will they become current production". A: After 2 years has elapsed, Habanos has the option to put any RE into standard commercial production.
