» So what did you choose?

With all respect to Curt and anyone else who wants to know, I would not let people know the brands of anything security related you use for FOH.

I am a burned out, retired?, Network Manager from networking companies in silicon valley. I would not ultimately advertise any solutions you go with, whether they be as simple as the forum software or more complex, like the security or spam software or firewalls you use.

True, most really motivated and gifted hackers can figure this out for themselves, but there is no reason to help out the ones who can't get past that step.

I hope you get the most effective security software out there and tell no one about it. There simply is no positive reason to advertise this information for FOH/ClubCzar or Rob...

Cheers,

A jaded, but not naive former IT Network manager and more imporatantly, a concerned member of FOH...

Macs aren't free of viruses actually. They have they're own share of them. The reason that you hear about Windows PCs and viruses alot more is because of the fact that hold the majority rank of computers in use today. [link]http://www.macvirus.org/[/link]

I agree with you Crash but the bigger reason for viruses on the PC is because a lot of people hate Bill Gates and windows so more virus are written because of him. IMHO

Uhhh, viruses on a Mac? I haven't used an anti-virus software since 1997 and guess how many viruses I have contracted in that time? That's right - none! I did have a virus attack in...I think it was 1996...Trojans are another matter as they work mainly by being activated and installed by unwary users, I believe. I still have to meet or hear of a Mac user who has actually encountered that kind of malware.

I am no expert.

Can only offer my humble opinion as a constant liesure user.

I have had several computers over the years and have tried Norton and McAfee.

By far the best product I have encountered is AVG. User friendly and most effective. It is not expensive. This is an area where you should no be pennywise and pound foolish. I am not sure that the free ones cover you as well. I do use in conjucton some free spy ware sweepers like ad aware and spybot
