Van55 Posted December 31, 2007 Posted December 31, 2007 No, I'm not asking the age-old storage question. My vote is cello on and won't change. It seems to me a "general" proposition that Cuban machine made cigars are/were packaged in cellophone while the handmade ones are not. When it comes to Cuban cigars, though, I admit that all generalities appear to have exceptions. For example, it appars that some totally hand made cigars were packaged in cellophone at one time -- e.g. Partagas Presidente pictured at p. 158 of the Charles del Todesco book and H.Upmann No. 3 at p. 199 of the same book. MRN refers to Quintero Churchills and ERDM Panetelas Largas as being offered both celloed and not at page 284 of his Encyclopaedia. I am unaware of any totally hand-made cigars being packaged in cellophane after about 2000, but obviouly my experience is limited. I recently saw a couple boxes of Romeo y Julieta Mille Fleurs of very recent vintage, and they were not in cello. I understand that these are now totally hand made -- is that why they're no longer wrapped in cello? Anyone?
Trevor2118 Posted December 31, 2007 Posted December 31, 2007 » It seems to me a "general" proposition that Cuban machine made cigars are/were packaged in cellophane while the handmade ones are not. For early cigars, this generalisation is wrong. Most handmade Cuban cigars were available in cellophane at some time, and sometimes only in some countries. For cigars circa 2000, the above generalisation is true.....only machine-made were in cellophane. Since circa 2006, ALL Habanos Cuban cigars are handmade and therefore no cellophane.

Thanks Trevor. That pretty much confirms my educated guess.
