Colt45 Posted December 27, 2007 Posted December 27, 2007 Construction of all samples smoked from this box so far has been very consistent - this sample was no different. Just a bit light in the hand, but firm - properly filled. A colorado wrapper between medium and dark. Leathery to the touch with little oil. A draw on the firm side of perfect, but plenty of smoke with an excellent burn. On the flavor side, I feel this is a cigar still in transition. It started with a nice flavor of coffee with just a hint of cream and sweet spice. It quickly changed to an overall taste of charred wood (in a relatively good way). There was the odd hint of raisin but little in the way of complexity. These have been, and still are, fairly robust cigars, showing a lot of structure, and a potent blend. I am curious to know whether or not the fullness of blend was intentional. So here we have a cigar that is approximately two years old - first samples quickly turned bitter and harsh. Next couple turning sour. Last sample had a mouth puckering juiciness. This sample, full on charred wood. As stated, I feel these are still in transition, but at this point I've no idea what they'll become.
bassman Posted December 28, 2007 Posted December 28, 2007 06 MC#4s are the best I've smoked in years. Full bodied, earthy, delicious. Nice to see this cigar make a comeback.

You have to love a journey !LOL! Colt, you would suspect that they a few more years of evolution within them. Frustrating and exciting at the same time ;-)
shrink Posted December 29, 2007 Posted December 29, 2007 Can't go wrong with any of the '06 Montes. I have found some ready to enjoy now, while others are going to need a few years. My #4's are in the latter category.
