Colt45 Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 Construction: Overall, very good - looked and felt nice. Head was a bit hard - with the weather here very dry as of late, these are taking a bit longer than normal to rebound from their trip. Wrapper: Medium colorado, minimal veins, smooth with no oil. Draw: Perfect draw with plenty of smoke. The kind of burn you usually only see in magazine ads. Taste: Here I'll give an overall impression. An overlay of stewed fruit over a core of earthy tobacco. Strong tannins that were sour rather than astringent. A rich mouthfeel, and at this time, full bodied. My feeling is that with time, these will be more of a medium / medium-full cigar. Past midpoint, tannins subside slightly, allowing the earthiness to come up just a bit. Salty spice that subsided over the course of the smoke. Slightly bitter on the tongue near the end. This is a young cigar. I feel it has all the makings of an excellent cigar in the future. No score at this time.
jwm8592 Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 Thanks for the review Colt, I have been looking at these and I see that Prez's new sale includes them. Prez., what is the box code of the ones in the sale? Just to get an idea of how long they may need to sit.
shrink Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 Thanks, Colt. This is my favorite Punch. But they need a few years to hit their stride. My '05s are pretty good, but the '03s are superb!
Colt45 Posted November 15, 2007 Author Posted November 15, 2007 JW, this is a cigar I had not tried as singles. But based on the great reviews it has gotten here, I felt confident in going ahead with a box, and I'm glad I did. Shrink, your review was certainly one that helped in my decision - thanks :-) I will not try another until spring or later.
greenpimp Posted November 16, 2007 Posted November 16, 2007 My early '06 11's sound close to yours. Extremely full of something, but not anything I want now. Got the guts to go the long hall, though, I think.
El Presidente Posted November 16, 2007 Posted November 16, 2007 » Prez., what is the box code of the ones in the sale? Just to get an idea » of how long they may need to sit. Punch RS 11 are GSO and ASB June 06
