Looks like a fun evening. :-)

I haven't caught a whole lot of Post-Jerry stuff - a little Ratdog here, a little Other Ones there. Should try to get to that stuff more often.

Phil & Friends has much more energy than the Dead did in their later days. And with a rotating lineup of musicians, you never know what they'll play. Caught them once & they were doing some John Coltrane!

I apologize if it's not customary around here to pull old threads out of retirement, but I'd just like to third this statement after doing a quick search for "Grateful Dead". Phil and Friends has been playing captivating shows for years. I saw them as recently as last summer at Gathering of the Vibes music festival with John Scofield and John Medeski. This was my holy grail of Grateful Dead performances (given the Johns in attendance - I LOVE Medeski, Martin and Wood and Scofield is a legend). Having grown up too old to see the boys in their old glory, shows like these are the best incarnations of the Grateful Dead spirit that I can partake in.

In the spirit of honoring elders, rest in peace to BOTL Bassman, whom I've never conversed with but was evidently one of the coolest cats around here.

Anyone with plans to attend summer concerts (especially music festivals) on the East coast, northeast in particular, should let me know! Would love to have a herf in attendance to some great jazz, psychedelic rock, or [insert musical genre here].
