El Presidente Posted November 5, 2007 Posted November 5, 2007 I would just like to say a huge thank you to Guillaume and his great friends in Beijing who showed me a marvellous time in a great city. I really wanted to post some photo's of the final night but Guillaume....to be honest....I can't post the photo's which you took on my camera As of 10 minutes ago they have mysteriously been deleted. The dinner was held at the Assaggi Italian Restaurant where we enjoyed Por Larranaga Petit Coronas and Saint Luis Rey Double Corona's along with a fine meal, fine wines and good friends. I forget what happened post dinner but I can assure you Guillaume that my suitcases were perfectly packed and I made the airport on time and without a wink of sleep :-) I feel like I am one of the richest men in the world for being able to meet and spend time with such great people. From Abidjan to Zurich I have brothers of the leaf whom I can sit down and laugh and share experiences of our lives. Cigars may be a common thread which brings us together but it is more than that. The cigar community is one which breeds fellowship and love for the enjoyment of life devoid of individual status. It is an egalitarian community where a man is judged on his core principles and not the heft of his wallet or position in life. Thank you also to Dag Holmboe of PCC, a great friend and a terrific host. Hong Kong is a remarkable place and the cigar community even more so. To sit down with cigar zealots over aged whiskies and to discuss life, love (what is sexier... the nape of a womans neck or the small of her back) and the finer points of cigar blending is an absolute joy. Then what can you say about Lisa. A man has never had a better friend. Good to be back but I will make it a point of getting back to Beijing next year along with a trip to Tokyo, and Shanghai in order to catch up and meet other members of this fine community. Thank you all and to Guillaume.....I am richer for meeting you and your colleagues.
shrink Posted November 5, 2007 Posted November 5, 2007 What a great trip! And what a wonderful tribute to your hosts. I agree wholeheartedly with your egalitarian sentiments; a man should be judged by the content of his character, not the age of his cigars! Wtih respect to Lisa, she did a great job. As usual, she's none the worse for your absence, although the cigar reviews suffered a bit. I'm not sure how she feels about being compared to man's best friend... Now, back into harness, Rob. Time to shoulder the heavy burdens of leadership, cigar smoking and wine.

jwm8592 Posted November 5, 2007 Posted November 5, 2007 Hey Prez, nice to have you back and what a fantastic trip. Your words really do strike a cord in that after your family, friends, IMO really are the thread that weaves us into the people we are, and has a major impact on the sanity that we strive for each day. I'm not sure where I would be or how to get through if it weren't for my mates (as you say) that I enjoy hanging with. Cheers!!
mef Posted November 5, 2007 Posted November 5, 2007 Prez, Any thoughts for a FOH Asia Herf trip next year? North Asia and South East Asia are wonderful places to visit - yummy food and fantastic people. Plus most areas welcome cigars. Welcome back ! mef
greenpimp Posted November 6, 2007 Posted November 6, 2007 Great post and welcome back to the grindstone. I share your sentiments heartily. Cigar smokers are a special breed.
