Cam Posted October 30, 2007 Posted October 30, 2007 A wonderful, sweet white bordeaux with alot of potential, alothough it scores betwen a 6 and a 10 on wine charts, i'd put it at a 7/10, it's inconsitency is purely down to age, I think 3-7 years will do the wine alot of justice, it's priced anywhere from 12-20 pounds a bottle. butterscotch, honey and cinnamin, would benefit from aging: I reccommend: Caramel, toffee, any reasonably made crème brulée. coffe or tiramisu icecream would go down quite nicely too, you wouldn't smoke a cigar with this paticular bordeaux, in general not with any white wine. Tell me what you think, anyone else tried a bottle of the 2000? Cam -
Cam Posted October 30, 2007 Author Posted October 30, 2007 I should mention, the price stated is for a half bottle. 37 cl

Cam Posted November 8, 2007 Author Posted November 8, 2007 ok about the sauternes.. its a 2004 Rieussex (Ch. Baron roths).. it could do with at least another few years, initial taste was amazing, watermelon, citrus, cedar and caramel/vanilla icecream. the wine is fine to drink now, would go well with a panatella or other small cigar, but a few years good cellaring won't go a stray
bassman Posted November 11, 2007 Posted November 11, 2007 Nice to hear the 00s are drinking well. Haven't bought any. really stocked up on 97, got a few 98, then stocked up again on 01s. 03 & 05 are supposed to be fantastic years, but with the declining $ Sauternes is getting hard to afford. I'd never turn down a Rieussec, in fact I have some 98s, but my Sauternes of choice is La Tour Blanche.
Ken Gargett Posted November 11, 2007 Posted November 11, 2007 i still think that the 01 yquem is the greatest young wine i've ever tried. and i think it will become one of the all time greatest ever yquems, if not the best.
