El Presidente Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 For older stock leaving Habanos s.a warehouse, new Government seals are being applied over the top of the previous seals. This generally applies to less sought after vitola's and cigars which have been in the back corners. Reasoning is that it is a measure against fraudulent boxes and provides a consistency to all product leaving the facility. Not a biggie but thought you may like to know.
n2advnture Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 Interesting, thanks. Not sure how SA thinks that will help though. Just as easy for the bad guys to slap on another stamp - unless there is something special about the 2nd stamp.

Mel Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 I don't know **** about much so Rob and Lisa tell me what I need to know. Boy do they have me in grasp?
waldo Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 Thanks. Any idea just what the old stock may be? Age is good .:-P
Curmudgeon Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 It seems that as long as buyers can't distinguish between old retail/distributor stock and old Habanos stock, this security measure is meaningless. After all, old stock could show up with either seal convention . . . depending on where the stock became old.
Loki Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 I read about this about a year ago. I just don't remember where? I have yet to see the new sticker. Anyone who has a box with one should post a pic.
wasch_24 Posted September 21, 2005 Posted September 21, 2005 Is this what you guys are talking about? 98 Punch Corona 2001 RyJ Corona
dysfunctional Posted September 21, 2005 Posted September 21, 2005 if so then not much difference as those making fakes can just use a new seal to paste it over....
wasch_24 Posted September 21, 2005 Posted September 21, 2005 That's what I am thinking. These both came from a reliable vendor.
argon345 Posted September 21, 2005 Posted September 21, 2005 I too had a question about this practice and am glad that Rob has added it to the forum. I have seen both cases posted by wasch_24.
GoatLocker Posted September 21, 2005 Posted September 21, 2005 » That's it exactly ;-) XX and XY are reinspected stock. I have heard that some regional distributors (Pacific Cigars and Altadis) have their own supply of standard series (not XX/XY) labels to use for reinspected boxes. Could some of these have been applied by the distributors?
wasch_24 Posted September 21, 2005 Posted September 21, 2005 See I thought the XX/XY were reinspected as well. Only there is no Revisado stamp. Weird.
