Colt45 Posted September 17, 2005 Posted September 17, 2005 I recently read that Alejandro Robaina stated that the tobaccco from Vegas Robaina is used for Cohiba and Partagas, and not for the cigars that bear his name. I guess I shouldn't be surprised, but .......... I am. I thought it an interesting tidbit.
El Presidente Posted September 17, 2005 Posted September 17, 2005 He means not exclusively. Plenty of VR leaf finds it's way to the VR line but it is not designated to exclusively go there. I still remember how filthy he was when Habanos s.a launched VR Cigarettes without his permission. He is 100% about qualtity and for all his international travel he is most comfortable in the field and on his porch. A true gentleman and living legend.
cvm4 Posted September 17, 2005 Posted September 17, 2005 Here is a good read about the man :-D There are also other articles on him if you scroll all the way down and search to the right. http://www.mycigarblog.com/blog/archives/000264.html
waldo Posted September 18, 2005 Posted September 18, 2005 I love the VR line of cigars. (To me) They seem to have a rather unique flavor that sets them apart from the rest. I'd like to get my fingers on a farmie one day.
skindiver Posted September 19, 2005 Posted September 19, 2005 I've spent many enjoyable hours on that porch with him. He's a great man. A lot of the wrapper comes from his farm. Those farm rolled cigars can be incredible! he gave me some curly tops that were outstanding!

Colt45 Posted September 26, 2005 Author Posted September 26, 2005 I had my first VR - a unicos - over the weekend. Great cigar, no matter where the tobacco came from!!

I just recieved a box of VR Unicos. Beautiful cigars to say the least. I have never smoked any of the VR line so I look forward to it. I'll put my thoughts of it up on the board as soon as I let 'em rest from their journey.

I too had looked forward to this one, and it did not disappoint. I don't have any "notes" on it, but it was very enjoyable. I'll keep an eye out for your review. (see how long you can leave them!)
