Jimmy2 Posted September 28, 2007 Posted September 28, 2007 Rob was wondering about the Date and Factory stamps. My 06 has the traditional stamp but on the 07's between the the month and year is a - or a * . Is this something new from Cuba or is this a marking showing it's a product for La Casa Del Habano ?
Trevor2118 Posted September 28, 2007 Posted September 28, 2007 » My 06 has the traditional stamp but on the 07's between the the month and year is a - or a * . Hi Jimmy.........do the 2007 look as good as the 2006??? Trevor

Jimmy2 Posted September 28, 2007 Author Posted September 28, 2007 The wrappers look much lighter than the early release. 06's were dark brown with oily black spotted blotches as most Bolivars are. 07's are very lite brown with no blemishes what so ever perfect looking. Also plume was present on both years. I know there are many shades of wrapper but the new one's (07) look like they are using a Colorado wrapper. I am dry boxing a single 07 and will smoke both years and see if there will be a differance because of the big differance in leaf color. Will post pic later.
brian1 Posted September 28, 2007 Posted September 28, 2007 Looking forward to hearing how you got on Jimmy. » The wrappers look much lighter than the early release. » » 06's were dark brown with oily black spotted blotches as most Bolivars » are. » » 07's are very lite brown with no blemishes what so ever perfect looking. » » Also plume was present on both years. » » I know there are many shades of wrapper but the new one's (07) look like » they are using a Colorado wrapper. » » I am dry boxing a single 07 and will smoke both years and see if there » will be a differance because of the big differance in leaf color. » » Will post pic later.
Loki Posted September 28, 2007 Posted September 28, 2007 The box that I received are marked URO JUL - 07. I noticed the dash between the month and year but really paid it no mind.
Jimmy2 Posted September 28, 2007 Author Posted September 28, 2007 I am talking on the bottom of the box. Just smoked the 07 it has a lot more body than the 06's and much more full bolded right from the start. Also it has different flavor much more sea salt . But both are Great cigars but I really think they are using a different outer leaf. Will smoke an 06 paired with Zaya rum on ice tonite. Also the J is differant than the traditional J's in the month looks like they are changing the letters. We all must be up to date on all changes as this is our hobby as we know knowledge is power.
anacostiakat Posted September 28, 2007 Posted September 28, 2007 I have the exact same POS DIC06 box code as you do. I have some on the way and will check when they arrive.
Colt45 Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 This is a bit curious. I wonder if it is simply another quality control or anti-counterfeit measure?

I've seen that star on a 2004 box of regular production Habanos in a recent discussion elsewhere. IIRC it is not of any concern.
Jimmy2 Posted September 30, 2007 Author Posted September 30, 2007 There is no concern here was just wondering if it was something new because i have never seen it in 5 years.
Well Armed Posted October 1, 2007 Posted October 1, 2007 Yes Jimmy that is very strange. And all the letters are askew. Not saying anything but it is strange.
Jimmy2 Posted October 2, 2007 Author Posted October 2, 2007 Where the hell is Rob or Ken with there feed back!!!!! About the outer leaf and date stamp?
El Presidente Posted October 2, 2007 Posted October 2, 2007 » Where the hell is Rob or Ken with there feed back!!!!! » » About the outer leaf and date stamp? Sorry Jimmy....I have been flat out since I got back Checked my current box codes on the BGM and they are the traditional layout. Check your vendor Wrappers are al over the place but they are consistently good. Vary from colorado claro to colorado maduro. Majority somewhere in between. I was kidding on the Vendor
Jimmy2 Posted October 2, 2007 Author Posted October 2, 2007 Colorado Claro with a hint of green are mine and thanks because they have been flat out tasty Rob. Thanks Again.;-)
Van55 Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 One has to wonder whether the URO stamped cigars were actually rolled in a different factory from the POS stamped cigars, or Cubatabaco changed the factory code. Anyone know?
Mel Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 I have seen quite a few variations in the stamping of the box codes over tha last few years and I trust my vendor explicitly.;-) I am convinced that we are just damn lucky that we have most of the boxes with some markings on the bottom .:-( I can only imagine how many different stamps that they use and how many different people are allowed to use them. I would expect that these extra marks are just quirks to be ignored.
rafa Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 Totally agree. In that kind of stamps machine, you can choose between different numbers, letters and symbols, and colour ink. If don't exist control and uniformity , an operator can choose a different way to stamp codes everyday of the week.

Strange wording... I dont know if POS has been replaced, but I think it may have been replaced at the end of June as I have not seen any POS codes after that. But then again, the cigars made after June are just starting to appear at the retailers. I DO know that TEB stands for La Corona, as someone I know went to the factory and saw it there.

The Wise Old owl Posted November 15, 2008 Posted November 15, 2008 I don't see no steenking asterisk or dash:-D I did notice a dash between "10" and "Gold Medal" and the phrase "made by hand" in English next to that. These variances aren't found in El Prez' stock photos
The Wise Old owl Posted November 15, 2008 Posted November 15, 2008 And here's a Jun 07 box (poor picture, sorry)
