El Presidente Posted September 10, 2007 Posted September 10, 2007 I don't want to bore members with Anti or pro Castro propoganda (you will find little on the latter posted by me) but I found the link interesting and true and is relevant to our discussion on my mate Manuel last week inthe post "What would you do?" We were at a lunch with some university students a few years back (they were attractive ) when the call came from their Dean of Studies that they needed to attend an Anti American rally at 4pm. Failure to do so would be recorded. I often wonder when I will be stopped at Havana Airport and sent home ;-) Have a read. http://www.therealcuba.com/FreeEducation.htm
Jimmy2 Posted September 10, 2007 Posted September 10, 2007 I can see why our Gov dont want to give in with the embargo. But there must be a better way to end this crisis as the US deals with countries that treat there people alot worse..
FLitiGator Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 Sadly, you see much of the same on US campuses. I agree that the embargo basically acts as a stalking horse that the Cuban leadership can use to blame for all their social ills. I can name a half a dozen countries that are worse than Cuba for the USA to currently deal with: North Korea, Iran, Zimbabwe, Sudan, Libya, Syria, Saudi Arabia, and I'm not mentioning China because we have to engage with a country that makes up 1/5 of the worlds population. The embargo just gives Cuba an excuse for their problems. » I can see why our Gov dont want to give in with the embargo. But there must » be a better way to end this crisis as the US deals with countries that » treat there people alot worse..
